Stella's doind well after all.
Tom & Dom End With Bang
Just as Tom Ford and Domenico De Sole are getting ready to leave
the empire they built, comes a third-quarter report that will
knock Francois Pinault's socks off. The Gucci Group revenues
surged 12.8%, and for the first time ever, there was a profit for
the YSL label. Alexander McQueen's sales also grew with 20.8%. But
the big winner was Stella McCartney, whose sales were up 65.5% in
the period that ended in October. And the trend continues. During
the first two weeks of December, Gucci-brand sales rose 21.6%
while YSL ready-to-wear and Bottega Veneta shoes and handbags
jumped 39%. Perhaps Tom's fans are stocking up on his designs
before he disappears to Hollywood.
