Tom Ford : Life after Gucci

It presents Gucci with more than ample opportunity to position themselves against his dark-glam-sex approach and gives them something more visual to work with. I sort of feared that he would just rehash Guccci in an off handed kind of way but it seems that his own personal vision can actually go a lot further, a lot darker which is very, very exciting. I hope he sets up base in NY, that would be a lovely little venture to intern for.

Tom, John, and Karl = The three musketeers! :)

OK, it must be too, too early in the AM for this, 'cause I cant think for the life of me who this John character is...

It’ll be interesting to see how it turns out. Does anyone know who’ll produce the line? Zegna perhaps?

What happened to Hollywood????

Hum ... I guess .. this career move will result in commercial success ...

Either Magnum is referring to me as one of the triumverate of great designers, or perhaps M. Galliano.

Why are people so harsh when it comes to this man...Saying you wish he would die! What the hell is wrong with you people? If he actually died, would it make you feel complete. How many of you know this man personally or have even met him where you can say these unkind things. Of course people have their own opinion of him, but saying you hate someone or you wish they would die is a bit extreme IMO.:ninja:

OMG!

I missed the editorial pics ... all I can say is "I wanna f*ck -Tom Ford- like Hedi Slimane"

*whistles*

Agree with you 100%. It ain't that serious guys...

I read the interview and saw the photos...i love the sense of contradiction going on within Tom's world, like he's open about criticizing today's society for striving after plastic ideals, yet he's also open about his own excessive vanity. I find that kind of conflict very interesting, and of course like I said before I'm anticipating his men's collection, bringing back that sense of overtly luxurious/decadent dressing up to menswear...and the photo shoot was brilliant, loved the images that portrayed the thin line between human and plastic, i especially liked the one where Tom was in the bathrobe, pushing the blow up doll who was sitting in a wheelchair.

Totally agree as well....:p Guess some people just want to rendered him obsolete! Irrelevant!

just get this one from vogue news:

TOM FORD apparently isn't too keen to over shower. He told one interviewer that when he and his long term partner, Richard Buckley, "are out riding in Santa Fe, we often go for maybe three days without washing… I like the odour of a man."

Tom Ford enthusiast

I am so happy that Tom Ford is back also. I hope...you know...I know that his line will be a great success. Has anybody heard about his production company in LA, and if so...what is the name of it?

TOM FORD TALKS
spacer.gif
WHICH fashion designer calls his mare Naomi? Tom Ford, of course. The fashion phenomenon, whose back is still recovering after Naomi took a dislike to his new Hermes sandal and threw him during a ride in his native Santa Fe recently, talks to this month's Vogue about life since leaving the Gucci Group in April last year. Having initially expected him to break into the film world, fashion watchers all over the world were surprised when Ford, who admittedly has three film projects underway already, announced that the next time we saw him professionally would be at the launch of a beauty line with Estée Lauder. But he explains that it was a natural move. "I have remained obsessed with looking at women and men around me, seeing how far their eyes are from their forehead, and thinking if brows were thinned out it could make a face look different," he says, adding that it drives his partner Richard Buckley crazy. "I say, 'It's OK for you, you can get away from me. I can't get away from me!'" The beauty industry is also Ford's platform until such time as he feels ready to jump back into the fashion arena once more. "When I left Gucci, my main thing was to focus on films," he says. "But that is a slow business. I realized that if I did not design or do anything in the fashion world, then the value of my name would deteriorate. Fragrance and beauty take less time. Through just 10 meetings I have produced a collection. Plus, it's working in fashion peripherally, it's being involved in the look of the season and developing the contemporary idea of beauty. It keeps my name out there and, after two or three years, if I got back into fashion, the push behind the Tom Ford Estée Lauder Collection and the Tom ford brand will keep my name visible. It will be there in print advertising, commercials, on bus stops – so my name will have more value when I decide to come back." And don't ever expect him to stop there. "I want to dominate the world," he continues. "I have never understood not aspiring to that." (October 11 2005, AM)

have anyone read the interview?...

TOM's beauty secrets !

Tom Ford gives his secrets away to Vogue

''If you've been in the public eye and a groomer puts bronzer on, it is hard not to be addicted. I wear tinted moisturiser, cover stick and a Clinique bronzer but I don't do anything to my eyelashes, I'm lucky in that way. That is where men go wrong with eye lifts - lower is fine, but upper gives you a weird feminine look. Oh, I hate giving my beauty secrets away...

I have always loved beauty and have, in fact, been ribbed in the press for it. But hair and make-up are as important as clothes they define a character. They can transform a little black dress. It can be made Fifties with eyeliner, or Twenties with a Louise Brooks bob and sexy oiled-up eyes and lashes. And, being a vain human being, I also have a personal interest. I'm fascinated by the ability to transform a face through cosmetics - it's the creative side that interests me.

'As a young homosexual child of 10 - OK, I did not know I was homosexual then - if I was left with the babysitter I would give my sister a makeover. Hair with raw eggs, cucumber on the eyes - whatever I had seen on TV.''

I read that his Production Company called "Fade to black".

www.stern.de/lifestyle/mode/539437.html?nv=pr&pr=1

"...Wie steht's denn mit dem Filmemachen?
Ich habe eine Produktionsfirma gegründet: "Fade to black". Wir arbeiten an der konkreten Umsetzung einer Idee. Nach langem Suchen habe ich das richtige Drehbuch und den richtigen Produzenten gefunden, jetzt sind wir dabei, neue Wege in der Finanzierung zu gehen. Ich hoffe, dass ich in Kürze damit an die Öffentlichkeit treten kann. ..."

He found an excellent niche, he is very right menswear lacks certain segments and men want to have that kind of thing. The current luxury firms are often too conservative while others become too gay and extravagant, he could fit right in between and become the new red carpet favourite for the Oscars. The Armani suit may have had his best time ;).
