She is the newcomer. The new Claudia Schiffer. The new Kate Moss. The young lady the definitely whom cover decorates of fashion magazines is 16 years old just once. She is Toni Garrn and will be a brand of her own soon. The inhabitant of Hamburg is the new face of Calvin Klein and succeeds of Kate Moss and Christy Turlington with that. It is a mixture of innocence, coolness and childlike naivety which Toni Garrn makes fascinating so. Her story sounds like the classic fairytale of the model.
sueddeutsche.de: You were discovered at the PUBLIC Viewing. What has happened there?
Toni Garrn: This was in summer 2006 with almost 15. I came from the cinema just with friends at the Hamburg Jungfernstieg. We stopped at a football fashion show briefly. Claudia, the boss of the "model work" agency, suddenly stood in front of me. She pushed me her card into her hand and asked me, but dropping in. Well, we then have taken pictures for some days on this.
sueddeutsche.de: " Germany, Next top model, ", and one always thinks there one must to, to get famous. Have you applied there before?
Garrn: I would not have said honestly imaginarily in the life to this. I was somehow always busy with other things. (She twitches with the shoulders.)
sueddeutsche.de: What do you think of the casting show, then? Are you proud to have been discovered classically?
Garrn: On the whole it comes. (She laughs.) As in the case of the hip hop musicians "Old School" against "New School"? The show has a completely different approach. Yes, it primarily is for this there, run the spectators and keep the build-up of tension in the best case, that people switch on again. This cuts wonderfully, the third echelon finally runs.

Garrn: I must pay attention much better in school to not lose the connection. I need good friends who keep me informed. Not travelling does put me under stress, I have always liked this, the jobs are varied. It is such positive stress.

Garrn: Milan. Paris. New York. Exciting. Fashionshows. Never made. Be together with stars now. Breathing deeply. Only not stumbling. Castings. A call. Calvin Klein campaign. Inquiries from all the world. Please pinch me for somebody! This would be the time-lapse photography.

Garrn: No, this does not disturb, it did not so often happen either. Perhaps what we have in common is the fair hair the only one. (She laughs.) But we really do not want to get superficial ...

Garrn: Beauty is important to the people, otherwise we would not try with all strength to find it, to reflect, to watch. Beauty can lie in everything. In objects in nature in a gesture or an attitude of mind. This is getting very philosophical here now.

Garrn: Clever people have to say good and more to it but there.

Garrn: One thinks about it. But if one is in it first time, one sees an industry working professionally, where it is about a lot of money and working reliably. One cannot afford any failures there. Clearly finally there are also black sheep but this draws itself by the whole society. Generalizations unfortunately also. On the other hand, one must learn there to fortify himself. There still are other terrific clichés: All models are stupidly approximately.
