Treating / Preventing Facial and Acne Scars

I've gone on something called Retin-A Micro. It's been working beyond expectations. Spectacular.

i"m on acne medication now: an antiobiotic with benzy something. It seems to have clears up a lot of the acne on my forehead and the rest of my face, but for some reason the blemishes, small red bumps on my chin will.not.move. I bet they wouldn't be as noticeable if they weren't so red. I'm gonna go to the store and get one of the microdermabrasion kits that everyone's recommending, but if that doesn't work, what else should I try.

peo activ really helped me-recently the acne has come back and i just started using "egyptian magic" a couple of days ago-will keep yall posted on that :)

Retin-A causes peeling to occur (thus removing scars and discoloration), and works to correct sundamage, has several acne-fighting elements. I've teamed Retin-A WITH Benzaclin (which is an antibiotic), and it's great. It makes your skin turnover quicker, too.

I've got scars left over from pimples that I wish would go away. I live in Australia and would prefer something non-perscription, but I may be able to go to the doctor if I have to.
Any reccs?

What about sun spots? You know, those brown spots that older people get. I don't have them (i know someone who does), but does anyone have any tips to get rid of those?

acne.org > I've found the clear skin regimen actually fades them but I'll probably try the Neutrogena Acne mark fading peel as well.

hmm that vitamin E thing sounds good too!

avoid ?

I have blemishes from acne and a scarr. If I wear a very sheer base/foundation it all goes away, but I don't like the idea of doing that because it requires me to avoid water, and having blemishes/scars isn't exactly a plus on a model's resume. What are some ideas? I heard that dermabrasion works really well, and microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing. If anyone has more details please do tell! ;)

how come you had to avoid water?

yeah i totally agree with that. the vitamin E works really well as a remedy for scar treatment anywhere. you can also try using Mederma, but it takes around 3 months for the scar to drastically fade.

Vitamin E oil was amazing for my scars (non-facial ones but I doubt that makes too big a difference). God know it's cheaper than Mederma, and faster... I also got a store brand scar lightener first and it burned my skin, then peeled off later. The oil is very much worth a try!

i think she meant avoiding water that would wash her makeup off....
not drinking water....
but rain, washing her face, etc.....

feel free to correct me if i'm wrong though....
:p.....

i have been using a new face gel that is all natural and working really well for scarring....will check the name and post when i have a moment!....

CVS, the drugstore. But of course you could get it at Walgreens or other. I believe mine was about $5 for nearly as many ounces... so cheap! Especially when you look at other scar treatments. And since I'm so giddy about it I'll share this also: CVS has a bottle of pure glycerin as well, which you dilute with water and apply to the skin. (Hopefully I'm not being stupid, maybe everyone has heard of this!) The back reads "a valuable aid for chapped skin"; I put it on my face and it worked miracles overnight. I felt like I'd found the Holy Grail with those two products! :woot: :flower:

I don't recommend Retin A one bit. It's so harsh, relatively expensive... dries your skin out terribly much and makes it very sun-sensitive. But everyone's skin is unique so perhaps it will work for you. You can only get it by prescription, so you'd have to pay to see a dermatologist as well.

By spots, do you mean pimples or scar spots? I really would say to try vitamin E oil if it's the latter; otherwise, it's a matter of experimentation, to see what your skin will respond to. If you have the money to see a dermatologist, that might be helpful. :flower:

the glycerin is more for dry skin, but if you have "fresh" scars it would probably help heal them less noticeably, so that they aren't as dark. :) and it's no problem. I just hope I wasn't too teacher-ish.:ninja:

Retin-A actually caused skin abrasions and led to scarring for me... haha that is actually why I am here! I do not reccomend it either.
