Treating / Preventing Facial and Acne Scars

This might be silly, but I would think vit. E all over your face would make you break out?

I had really bad acne for a while. I went to the dermatologist and tried almost every pill and topical medication. I would always get immune to the pills within a month. I tried to go back to trying over the counter medicine, but they didn't work. My acne isn't as bad as it was a year ago, but I have a lot of scars and hyperpigmentation; which made my face look worse than it actually was. I wanted to try microdemabrasion, but I was told by my dermatologist to wait until everything clears. I also have a hard time keeping appointments because I always get last minute things that come up. So it would've been hard for me to do the treatments on a regular basis.

I had a gift card at a spa, so I decided to try a facial. I got an initial consultation with the esthetician. She recommended a purity peel from Cosmedix. She told me to buy some of the products from Cosmedix to prep my face for the peel. She told me to get 4 products - the purity clean, purity balance, clarity serum, and lightening. They were $30-45 each. I didn't really want to spend money on something that wouldn't work so I told her that I'd buy the most important two. So she told me to get the purity clean and lightening. She gave me samples of the other two. I was extremely skeptical about it at first. Within about 2 days, I noticed that the hyperpigmentation was starting to get lighter. I was really excited after noticing this. The week after, I got the peel and also purchased the other two products. I was really glad that I finally found something that worked for me. I've been using cosmedix for almost a month and I would say it's about 70% better. I've also gotten comments from my parents and boyfriend saying that my face looks a lot better. I'm going for another facial peel on friday, hopefully the other 30% will go away after that. If you're willing to spend the money, I would definately recommend Cosmedix. But I would probably see a esthetician that uses the products, to see what they recommend.

ok so i tried the vit. e cream (not the oil) and i broke out really bad! i don't know, i haven't had acne for a while, and about a day later (i only used it for one night, and found it to be really greasy) i had like 5 swollen painful bumps!

was this too greasy? did i use too much?

^ Yeah, I would think that it would cause breakouts. . .
But, I did get this Palmer's Scar Serum (or something along those lines) at Target. I started using it last night and hopefully I'll be able to tell a difference.

i've trield the palmer's skin serum and it didnt do that much for me, i dont' use vitamin e oil either since it makes me break out- still in search of the perfect product to get rid of the acne scars...

i'm trying the palmers cocoa butter stick right now...started on Friday and I can already see a difference! My skin looks clearer and more even....I'll keep updating ....

i have horrible scars on my back due to acne. i had horrible acne there and started putting pro-activ's refining mask on it overnight everyday and all my acnes gone! but i still have those horrible scars. my back looks like a pepperoni pizza! got any suggestions to get rid of them? or atleast get them to fade?

^ hey do u think the refining mask would work the same way with the skin on ur face like it did with the skin on ur back. i dont have serious acne, but id like to get rid of this little bit left...

o yea. i put a little of the mask on the spots with acne overnight and they are usually gone by the next morning or within a day. the stuff kinda smells wierd but its a miracle worker!

sweet thanks... o and for your problem to help heal yu scars, theres not too much you can do, excpet to put on a topical treatment like vitamin E or exfoliate every night while waiting for it to disapear itself, thats what i did and i dont have anymore... hope that helps:flower:

I'm using the Arnica cream (for blemishes) and the Herbal Recovery Gel from Jurlique, as well as Desert Essence's Tea Tree Blemish Stick. Hope they work..

I have a few red spots on my face too from previous acne :( I bought a gelmask from Neutrogena but it's not working yet.. when I'm back in the US I'm going to look for something stronger, here where I live everything is prescription based if it's remotely strong.. Vitamin E I am going to check out though!

Getting rid of discoloured scars - What type of facial?

I'm finally acne free for good. Horay!. The only thing i have now is the scars. Small brown ones and grey dull areas.
I wanted to know, what type of facials can i get to get rid of these discoloured scars?
any suggestions would be very much appreciated, thanks .
x

Get Laser resurfacing, dermabrasion or a microdermabrasion (a mini version).

I thought microdermabrasion was for pitted (ice pick scars and a bumpy face)?
As is laser resurfacing?, we actually don't have laser resurfacing here, Only lasers to get rid of hair growth and acne.

madrid qon, i have the same prob as you, but ive started using Retin-A cream. Ive been using it for almost a week but havent seen dramatic results just yet. Fingers crossed!

Thanks, i'll have to go too my dermatologist and ask him if they are suitable for my face.

do any of you guys have acne scars that look like tiny little pin holes? that's what i have. and they keep multiplying. does anyone know about that and if so what can i do to get rid of them? also, could getting extractions during a facial on a regular basis be the cause of this? TIA
