Judging by what you think has been popular on the runways, or sales or streetstyle, etc, what do you think will be popular for winter?

There was a small trend for S/S 11 appearing right from the beginning of NY fashion week, and I can vividly imagine it becoming big with layering for winter, it's skirts being worn over trousers. (Is that also a very 'nineties thing?)

I think it should be F/W 11/12 in the title :flower:.

On the topic: The skirts over pants was very popular when I was in highschool, so that would be in the early '00. Don't know about other places though.

I think the warm colours will continue, brown, deep reds and such. And i feel like the minimalism is here to stay for a while, at least i hope because it's (still) refreshing to me.

IA with Fewormany, i hope minimalism stays for a while.
I hope the skirts over pants thing doesn't happen, it's always looked very awkward to me.

Last time I went to Japan (2003?) the skirt over pants thing was pretty in, but they didn't look great on a lot of the people I saw them in. Hope the trend doesn't come back!

I think that you can still see minimalism in the runways next season and then the color palette will be more of the deep and neutral shades. Bright colors just weren't as prominent as before.

I totally agree. And also you see more and more people wearing white and cream clothes even in winter (for coat for exemple, instead camel coat we saw all around this winter).

So far with prefall, I am noticing like a revolt against tan. More black and creams.

I think the bright orange shades will remain, but taper down to more of a rust.

Also along with the minimalism, there's seems like there will be a de-emphasis on body shape.

i hope it becomes like art i mean that its takes a while before you get the clue what it actually is

Boxy shapes instead of fitted shapes? I'm just wild guessing

yes, same thing I noticed in Japan. I somehow liked it though compared to the European 90's look of pants over trousers.

what do you think will happen with the shoulders? will "power" shoulders stay or are they slowly being replaced by the more fitted ones?

I have a horrible feeling of the 70's sneaking up on the masses for fall, and it's not going to be pretty.

There will be a very strong 70s vibe mixed in with 90s minimalism, which i love i hate the 80s

I'm glad the tan/camel trend is dying out. Head to toe camel - too beigy.

^^ If this is true, I'm going to be excited. I found an old jacket of my mom's in the back of the closet that I've been debating on wearing out (in Texas?!) for over a year and a half. It's not quite as amazing as Balenciaga, but it'll do.

Actually, I think it is quite beautiful! Even more than the Balenciaga one - I find that too extreme.

^ love that jacket, i've been looking for a nice vintage one for ages so you're lucky!
