Trends you regret trying

Faux hawk. Looking back at past photos....slap my old self.

Bellbottoms. I couldn't find any that were wide enough at the base, so I would get my Mum to sew in a triangle of material on each leg - preferably in denim of a different colour so it would show that I had expanded my bells!

Sandles and flip flops with a platform, this was obviously around 1997, when the Spice Girls were in.

I was born in 83, so was subjected to a few 80s trends, but I do remember that when my Mum bought a crimper, I cried and screamed so much when she tried to crimp my hair that she gave up and never used it on me.

In the 90s I would wear a floor-length skirt in really nasty print, paired with a plain beige or cream top. Argh what was I thinking?

Around 2004 I made some horrible mistakes with shoes - I bought a pair of really nasty pink knee-high boots with a 1" stiletto heel, they were nasty. I also had some white pointy knee-high boots, that looked slouchy. I threw them away last week. I'm a hoarder, that's for sure!

I can't think of any more recent mistakes, I think my style has definitely become better over the years. I had a terrible goth phase back in 2002, that was awful, and is long behind me!!

3/4 leggings. Why did I do that to myself? I made myself look so short and childish.

Headbands. I just feel uncomfortable when I put them on.

Thank God I was (and am) a pretty calm (style wise) teenager and I discovered fashion early (when I was 12 or 13) so I don't have that many fashion crimes on my list. But no one's perfect, so...
I used to wear babydoll blouses with 3/4 leggings. The blouses were usually floral (from Zara kids department) and the leggings were black. In addition, I carried a HUGE silver or golden bag and accessorized it with a scarve, and wore a headband on top of everything. Nasty.
Then, I used to wear bell-bottomed jeans when I was 7 or 8. I remember having ones with fringy bottoms so I felt like a cowgirl and even bought a matching jacket

By the way, have you guys noticed that some trends, which were regretted in 2005 or 2006 (I've read the whole thread), seem to be very popular these days? I'm afraid that someday I will regret having a black leather biker jacket or wearing harem pants. But thanks to fashion and TFS, my style has gotten MUCH better over the years, so I hope to make less fashion mistakes that will be regretted in the future.

^aaah yeah I did the whole 'baggy jeans and t-shirts thing' - PLUS i also tie dyed my own baggy t-shirts and wore caps backwards :S Thought I looked very very cool... yikes!!

Ahahaha, I did that one, and it was the grossest and most shapeless of grandad type long sleeved top. I once shouted at my mother for washing my nasty floral printed long rayon skirt because the bloody cheap thing shrank and I felt so lost without it.

Where I lived you got cheap knock offs from the market and though I can't claim to have done the 'global hyper-colour' trend all my friends did. Only the cheap knock offs just changed colour under your pits or other highly obvious teenage places. Ick.

I highly regret the legging and baggy t-shirt thing which I lived in for a whole year. Only my leggings came from the market and so super cheap and mean with the lycra were they that they always developed holes on the thigh seam. Nice.
