David Lynch has revealed that an array of deleted scenes from cult movie
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me may finally be released.
Twin Peaks fans have spent years campaigning for the scenes to be made available from the 1992 spinoff movie, which functioned as both a prequel and sequel to the iconic television series.
A number of regular characters from the show were excised from the final cut of
Fire Walk With Me, which caused consternation among fans at the time.
Co-creator Lynch recently told
WYNC.org that he is hopeful of a release.
"
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me is owned by a company called MK2 in France," he said, "and I spoke to them a couple of months ago. I've spoke to them several times about this... [and] I think it will happen."
However, Lynch added that the recession could prolong the wait, saying: "Maybe the financial crisis is affecting that in some way. I'm not sure what's going on. I'm pretty sure there's 17 scenes in that at least but its been a while since we've looked into that."
