Tyra Banks produces a new reality show: Stylista

People are so hateful here, for no damn reason

And by the number of people rubbishng ANTM, yet spending a good portion of their lives in the ANTM thread and watching the show,
I'll guess that this new venture will be a success.

I'll have to at least WATCH THE SHOW, before saying anything.

And people have to remember, Tyra is here to make money first and foremost.

OT: this is te 2nd time this year i've defended Tyra, what is hapening to me

Nooooo...please go away...

p.s. I don't watch Top Model...except maybe for two seconds when they have yet another marathon on MTV...but then I change it as quickly as possible lol...

the position is supposedly one working under creative director joe zee, not tyra...
as someone who loves magazines, i would LOVE this...
his work for W, elle and vitals is amazing, and i see this show being very interesting...

i have a feeling tyra's role on this show will be more like heidi's role on project runway...
i'm wondering what all the hate is about too...
what does heidi know about clothes other than wearing them? :innocent:

I think the Tyra hatred comes from her general personality which (at least for me) is incredibly grating. I used to like ANTM the first couple of seasons after awhile the thrill was gone. As for Tyra's talk show it makes The Ricki Lake Show look like Masterpiece Theatre and just have a hard time watching her. She tries very very hard to project this persona and it just doesn't work for me - it comes across as fake. She has this way of making everything about her.

At least thats how she comes across to me. I just find her very annoying and overexposed at this point. ANTM still has its moments though.

But I'm biased, I never liked her as a model either. Its weird since I appreciate that she is successful and I think what she's done with her career is great in theory but at the same time I just roll my eyes whenever she's onscreen.

OK. I'm getting off topic. I suppose this show could potentially be interesting if Joe Zee is involved. Oh, who am I kidding, I'll watch at least one episode of anything.

'Fashionista' reality show-win an entry level position at Elle magazine (Tyra Banks)

I'm very skeptical of this   We don't need more competition!

Casting notice, from fashionista.com
"Can you identify the best designs from the top designers with a glance? Are Manolo, Prada and Gucci a few or your favorite words? Is one of the best things in your life your wardrobe and footwear? Do you spend hours lost in a copy of Elle Magazine, daydreaming about a career in fashion?

If so, the CW Television Network and the creators of "Project Runway" and "America's Next Top Model" are about to offer you the opportunity of a lifetime!

No experience necessary. But style, intelligence and a great work ethic are a must.

We are now casting an untitled reality competition that will take viewers (and cast members) behind the fashion world's velvet rope for a chance to work side-by-side with a who's-who of high fashion and a chance at a career-launching grand prize.

Email us at [email protected] In order to be considered you must tell us in one page or less who you are and why you stand out in the crowd. Include your name, age, city, occupation, and contact phone number and email address. Also, send two clear current photos of your choice: one full body, one closeup!

THE OPEN CALL WILL TAKE PLACE THIS SATURDAY FEB. 9TH FROM 11AM TO 4PM!!! BE THERE!!

Park Central New York
870 Seventh Avenue at 56th Street
New York, NY 10019

Registration location: Manhattan Skyline"

Anyway, just posted it here in case anyone is interested.

eh...

something about this makes me feel a little ill... its like working at magazines is such a huge and glamorous industry. It is a business like any other, and so many people are shown this 'holier than thou' image of the people who work there, they want a piece of the glamour, and so think simply working there will get it (same as being a 'model'). working in magazines is going to be daggy in about 5 years, i swear, because between so called magazine gurus getting airtime on reality tv shows, shows like ugly betty (and now this) and the fact that anna wintour is a household name is just way over the top!!

poor elle staffers - i mean they would be raking it in (and *cough* but, god knows they need an image overhaul) but you would have to put up with so much sh*t to have the show in and around the office all the time.

I agree, Tyra's role will probably be like Heidi's on project runway....I'll watch the show though, just because I love Elle and it will probably be pretty interesting.

nevermind

I'm not really a Tyra fan. I can't stomach her talk show, but I totally agree that the haterade is on sale and flying off the shelves. I watch Top Model now and then and even when i find it hilarious in its ridiculousness, i still find it entertaining. Tyra knows people criticize her and probably just has to look at her bank account to feel better...She deserves a lot of credit for making something out of nothing and setting goals and following through with them without waiting to see what people are gonna think.

I'll give this new show a chance just 'cause.

According to Buzz Sugar, Tyra wasn't the one who initiated this. It was the creators from Project Runway who first approached the CW network, who in turn approached Tyra and Ken Mok.

Apparently it's Famous People Getting New Reality Shows Day. Not only is Sarah Jessica Parker pitching a Project Runway-style show for artists, but Tyra Banks has also figured out another way to show up on your TV screen. Banks and her America's Next Top Model producing partner Ken Mok are diving into the world of fashion magazines with a show about fashionistas angling for assistant editor jobs.

The idea apparently started with three of the people behind Project Runway, who pitched it to the CW; the network then recruited Banks and Mok to help put the show together. It's expected to go into production this Spring and premiere in late Spring or early Summer. According to the Hollywood Reporter, each episode will have both an individual challenge and a team challenge to create a page for "The Book," a fake edition of a fashion magazine. The winning team's page will make it into the mock-up, while the losing page will end up in the trash (let's hope they recycle) and get one of the team's members eliminated.
The producers are reportedly in negotiations with a fashion magazine to host the challenges and judge the contestants. I hope they get a good one to participate, because for all her modeling skills, I can't say I trust Tyra's editorial judgment. What about you?

There's also this little gem about the competition breakdown from The Hollywood Reporter:

In each episode, the contestants will compete in two different challenges. In the individual assistant competition, the winner will get to come up with the pairings for a team editorial challenge. In the team editorial challenge, each squad will submit a page for "The Book," a mock edition of the magazine. The losing team's page will end up in the trash, and one of its team members will be eliminated. The page from the other team will be included in "The Book." The winner of the series will land a job in the fashion industry.

Former VS Model , Sports Illustrated Model..host of Top Model which runs all of the time on CW and MTV ..and this is going to be her third on air show make it stop! WE can all blame one man BENNY MEDINA he is Puffy, J.Lo's original Manager and Will Smith during his Fresh Prince days..currently Nicole Richie's as well...so he's responsible for alot and funded her mind and projects for all this B.S.

ok so i'm trying out for this tomorrow...
i don't like tyra but whoooo cares!

i have now lost all respect for elle. and when i am a junior in college i will not be applying for an internship there. obviously a true devotion to fashion is not taken seriously at elle.

this show is a good idea, but i just know that it won't truly be about fashion or the magazine industry. it will just end up being about girls who are uneducated about fashion or the real world and who think that elle and tyra are giving them a chance. when in reality they are just making fools of these girls. the girl who knows all about fashion will be kicked off, for the girl who likes to curse and likes to create drama, because the second girl gets more ratings.

this show really bugs me. i'm pissed that tv is going to make a mockery of my dream job.

a reporter for the fashionista.com went to a casting for the show. here is part of her article on her experience:

But when I arrived at the casting, one for fashionistas handpicked by the CW's casting crew, I was confronted with about 100 girls (and about twenty boys) who could have stepped out of a ShopBop catalog. I got the sense that these were hopeful kids who had never actually worked in the industry, but were cute enough for primetime TV (In fact, it should be noted that when I was approached, although I was assured that it would be more Apprentice than ANTM, I was never asked about any actual experience.)

the rest of the article can be read on the fashionista.com :flower:

well this lets us know what direction the show will be going in. :innocent:

yep, i was there, and they were far more interested in girls with good stories about being drunk and whose favorite designers include JESSICA SIMPSON than people who have their own fashion blogs or know any labels besides chanel. twas terrible
