Ugly Betty - ABC's Primetime Show

Oh no. I love Amanda! And I thought, they would use her more now that she has moved in with Betty.

^ me too :judge:
My whole Friday is evolved around the new episode of Ugly Betty

NEW EPISODE TONIGHT!
(tomorrow for me)

:magic:

I've been missing out on Ugly Betty. January 8th, I was watching the BCS National Championship game between Florida and Oklahoma. I think I had to handle some school business on my birthday last Thursday, ended up being tired. I hope to check out this episode of Ugly Betty while also making my own fashion report from the show.

(NOTE: This is an old post from about an hour ago. I just never posted it yet. Fashion report to come!)

I am a fan of Betty and Hilda. However, wow! You hate to see two loves go at it. This is a real comedy/drama ("comedrama?"). Another powerful/funny episode. I am increasingly loving Ugly Betty as a drama as much as I do with comedy.

NOTE: When I say "segment," I mostly mean the actual part of the show between commercial breaks. So the start of the show is the first segment. The final part of the show is the final segment.

America Fererra (Betty)
* Betty Suarez has to be the queen of clashing colors and patterns.
* The second segment shown off a lovely blue coat with some cute pink tights and lovely mary janes. I love mary janes. Betty's top and skirt look lovely to go with the outfit. The red accents offer the pop of color to take away from the darker colors.
* Her final outfit has nice green accents to go with the black top. Also a nice black skirt/dress with magenta accents, magenta tights, and nice shoes.

Ana Ortiz (Hilda)
* Lovely cutout top she wore. It's a lovely black top with various blue and red accents. Some dark denim jeans adds extra charm.
* The second and third segments feature Hilda in a nice sleeveless top or vest with a feminine black top. In the fifth segment, you get a better idea of her head-to-toe look. Look like she wore black leggings with these rugged black boots. Her coat is nice and nicely styled. She can really sport the skinny-leg look very well. This, unlike so many I see out in the streets and such.

(Wilhelmina)
* That's a nice bolero to go with that lovely dress and nice pumps.
* I love the outfit she wore in the second segment more than the outfit from the first segment. That dress/skirt set has the right amount of dazzle with a sweet outfit. Couldn't see the shoes that well, but love the outfit. The
* The final segment shows a nice look by Wilhelmina with that somewhat champagne blouse and that ivory straight skirt. The earrings were lovely as well. Not sure if this is a high-waist skirt or anything, but that was a nice look.

(Daniel)
* I personally think Daniel is the best-dressed male on Ugly Betty. He came through again with a nice coat and dress suit outfit. I really like the coat he's wearing. The gloves and dress shirt add a nice touch to the whole look. At least I think Daniel is the best-dressed male among major characters. Maybe you think so too.

Lindsay Lohan (Amanda)
* Amanda wore some cute ankle booties along with the rest of her outfit.
* She wears a nice dress from the second segment. It's an all-black look with that dress, those tights/stockings, and those pumps. However, the little accents on her dress aren't as lovely as Wilhelmina's black dress. Later in the third segment, I don't really dig those earrings. The furry pale pink coat kills the look for me. If anything, she'd be better off without the earrings and the coat.

Others:
* Did anyone notice that magenta vase that looks like a kitten-heel boot? If girls love shoes, do they even love shoe-loooking accessories like that boot vase?

The next new Ugly Betty is in two weeks. I'll be sure to check it out.

Lindsay Lohan (Amanda)

?

I just watched the latest episode and was quite dissapointed. Nothing good happened, although I like the storyline of the whole Whilhelmina, Connor, Daniel and Molly thing. Interesting.

I wonder where Amanda goes? :o
& Betty better not think about leaving MODE or anything along those lines..

In the preview for the next ep (which is in two weeks time FYI) it looks like Betty is kind of torn about moving out or not.

I love her living with Amanda. It brought something extra to their characters. It will suck hard if they split them up.

Breaking: ABC benches 'Ugly Betty'

Things are looking pretty gloomy for Ugly Betty.

In a just-announced Thursday night scheduling tweak, ABC is benching Betty beginning March 26 and replacing it with episodes of Samantha Who? and the new Megan Mullally-Cheryl Hines comedy In the Motherhood. The network's release concludes by saying, "Ugly Betty will return to Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m. following the run of In the Motherhood and Samantha Who?"

After crunching the numbers, that puts Betty's return (provided Sam Who/Motherhood don't tank) sometime around (gulp) June -- a.k.a. outside the regular season. Now, granted, Betty hasn't exactly been killing it in the ratings this season, but it's still one of ABC's signature shows. At least I thought it was.

"The Thursday night block is a good opportunity to launch these comedies," counters an ABC spokesperson. "That said, Betty is a solid performer and there is no question that it will definitely be back to complete its season, just without repeats."

But when will it be back? The net's not saying, and that's the part that has me worried. Do you share my concern? Or is there a silver lining here that I'm just not seeing? Comment away.

THIS F**KING SUCKS. I'm so angry at ABC. They cancel Pushing Daisies (apparently we may never see the rest of the season) and now they are with holding Betty. I am having a tanty right now.

^^
:angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:

That's so incredibly frustrating. Ugly Betty kept getting better and better!

I hate that executives in all fields have been making such irrational, crazed and frantic decisions because of the economic crisis.

It's true

Update on Ugly Betty Situation

Earlier today, Michael Ausiello reported that as of March 26th, Ugly Betty would be on a hiatus that could last until June. If you love Betty as much as I do, that news just sucks.

Wondering what the network was thinking, I did some poking around and an ABC spokesperson told me "We are going to be premiering In the Motherhoood paired with new episodes of Samantha Who? starting March 26th, but Ugly Betty will be back in that timeslot. ABC has complete confidence in Ugly Betty and the hiatus is no way meant to reflect a loss in faith for the show which remains large part of ABC's identity."

I hope that is the case, but I have to say I'm pretty concerned and hope ABC knows what they are doing. Taking a show off the air, especially one that isn't a ratings machine, feels like a risky move.

A couple years back the networks really ticked off viewers by airing three episodes of ratings powerhouses such as Desperate Housewives or Grey's Anatomy only to pull them for a week or two to debut some new lame comedy. (Note, I'm not saying In the Motherhood is lame as I haven't watched it yet.) And the writer's strike certainly did no show any favors by taking them off the air for so long.

In the Motherhood is currently scheduled to air thirteen episodes which would, as Ausiello says, bring Betty back sometime in June. However, a source tells me that Betty — which will have five episodes left to air after March 26 — will be back before the current season ends. That means Betty would return some time in May at the latest. I've got a hunch it might be early May as bringing Betty back on May 31st would be rather pointless.

That's good news, but from where I sit even better news would be hearing Betty isn't going away at all.

I HATE YOU ABC.

America Fererra (Betty))
* Betty had worn yet another clashing pattern/color deal, and didn't look bad at all.

* Heading back to the apartment, Betty came along with some green top. It was a nice green color along with some floral accents from an accessory she wore.

* That was a nice outfit Betty wore in the fourth segment with all the dark colors. Later on, her hot pink tights were shown.

* In the fourth and fifth segments, Betty wore this nice black outfit with some nice off-white accents. I think this was over

* Betty looked very colorful in the final segment. Lovely combination of white, pink, and green. The mint green tights were cute, but I don't know about the boots. Would have liked more chic boots, especially not those with those dangling pom-pom things. Most of you know how I feel about certain cold weather boots. I may give her a pass because Ugly Betty takes place in New York City, where it can get unbearably cold.

Ana Ortiz (Hilda)
* Hilda wore some striped top with some rather slim jeans. Not sure if they were embellished or not. Has that look to it.

* In the second segment, Hilda wore a cute dress/tunic. It was kind of dark gray with some red accents.

* Hilda looked colorful and fun in the final segment with a nice hooded sweater, colorful T-shirt, chain belt, and some more slim/skinny jeans.

Vanessa Williams (Wilhelmina)
* I didn't truly pay attention to her first outfit, so I couldn't judge it.

* Wilhelmina was looking lovely in the second segment with her ivory dress or skirt set. I'm not sure if I'd go with the black stockings with the ivory peep-toe pumps. I might have gone with dark red tights or something. Maybe a crimson or brick red color. Later in the third part, I got a better view of her earrings.

* In the fourth segment, my goodness... I LOVE that dress she wore as well as the gold accents in her accessories.

* In the final segment, Wilhelmina wears a lovely outfit, but I didn't like it as much as the dress she wore earlier in the show.

Lindsay Lohan (Amanda)
* I didn't really see what she wore in the first segment.

* Amanda had a pretty hot office outfit along with those patterened stockings. She had this jacket with alternating blue and magenta stripes. Then later in the second segment, paired over them with a furry black coat.

* Amanda has a nice top with sparkly silver accents.

Eric Meade (Daniel)
* In the fourth segment, Daniel looked dapper and handsome as usual. I like the dark suit with the very deep indigo color shirt and tie.

Others:
* One femme Betty and Amanda were trying to hire to take care of payments wore a nice blue top with white accents. But damn it... ENOUGH WITH SKULLS!!! How many freaking times do I have to preach this?

* For all my car fans, it was cool seeing a Porsche Cayenne pursuing a lovely BMW... 7-series car.

The next Ugly Betty is next Thursday, so feel free to check into ABC next Thursday! By the way, that's a dumb move by ABC to bench "Ugly Betty." That's a great show. Why replace this with two other programs like those? So I'm going to miss seeing newer Ugly Betty episodes after late March.

 at Amanda and Marc kissing!

& then "Extreme Makeover - Homo Edition" !!

The scene (may be a spoiler) where Marc and Amanda were kissing was recently put on YouTube from this past episode of "Ugly Betty." It was a good episode with the usual fanfare of comedy and drama. Even included a nice shouting match in Spanish.
