Ksha is a chilled out baby: Ujjwala

Ujjwala Raut and husband Craig Maxwell might have had a subdued New Year celebration but they had a lot to celebrate. Ujjwala delivered a baby girl on December 21. “We had a pretty chilled out New Year’s eve. Ksha was just 10 days old, so there was no question of us going out,” says the model mom.
D-day: On the day of the delivery, Ujjwala almost didn’t make it to the hospital because of the transit strike in New York. “Getting to the hospital was an ordeal because there was a lot of traffic.” And, that was the only ‘ordeal’ that the supermodel has had to go through. “Ksha is such a peaceful and chilled out baby. She is no problem at all. Apart from feeding and changing her, I don’t really have to do much.”
Name game: Ksha’s unusual name is all thanks to Goa-based designer Wendell Rodricks. “I found the name in a huge book of names that Wendell has, and Max and I instantly fell in love with it. I wanted her to have a name that foreigners also find easy.” Ksha’s first trip to India has already been planned. “We’ll be coming down in June for her naming ceremony.”
The Godmother? Former model and Ujjwala’s friend Madhu Sapre has been chosen the baby’s Godmother. “Madhu was actually in New York with us for about two weeks. She left for Goa just two days before Ksha was born. So, she was livin’ it up in Goa while her Goddaughter was born,” laughs Ujjwala.
So, who does Ksha look like? “Hmm… she has dark eyes and hair and my hands and feet but the rest of her is more like Max. Hopefully that will change soon,” she giggles.
Hands off! Like most first time mothers, Ujjwala is paranoid about her baby. “I don’t really like too many people touching Ksha but I can’t really stop anyone. So, I keep asking Max and my friends if they’ve washed their hands before touching her.” As far as work is concerned, Ujjwala is in no hurry to get back to work and neither is her agency IMG. “The people at the agency have been very sweet.
They’ve told to take my time. I might take another six weeks off before I start. I’m still trying to get used to be a mother.”
