UK Elle November 2011 : Emma Watson by Rankin

The editorial is a departure for Elle UK, not really in a good way, and I'm assuming it is because it was edited by Jennifer and not Lorraine.

My gosh, this girl is just everywhere. I prefer the second cover. The gaping mouth and crop of the shot doesn't work too well. I can't imagine the editor being like "Oh yeah, that's the one, with her mouth half cropped!" Just strange...
The editorial is alright. I think half the problem is that I have such high expectations with Emma Watson due to her Dec Vogue UK ed and especially her American Vogue cover/ed.

I must say I agree re-styling but I should admit that it kind of works really well... I think it is a great great cover...

Her face looks horrendous on this.

wow ppl seem to hate the poor girl with passion ... i don't even care about her that much but i really think she looks cute on the cover...

The way she's pulling that knit to hide her crotch on the cover looks so deliberate it's awkward.

Bored face, though quite 60s-twiggy-ish wich I like. Love the colours, but the styling in the editorial is kind of ugh. I mean, how many times have we seen the Louis Vuitton-bunny stuff?

Actually, I admire the styling from Emma's edit, the hobo-chic. Lindsey's few photos make this issue, Elle should count Terry Tsiolis as a regular, Rosie's July appearance was satisying too.

I'm afraid I'm not a fan of the cover story. For me, the Emma Watson editorial emphasises how irrelevant UK Elle is for my life, because the end result looks as if it's aimed at twelve-year-olds, who want to play at fashion without actually having to consider what they look like, either in the mirror or in the eyes of the world.

It doesn't seem inappropriate to have Emma Watson wearing stuff like that, because we're used to seeing her as a young girl, and she's at the age where she can easily switch between light glamour and childishness, and it doesn't feel forced - so she's what saves the editorial, she carries it. But in my eyes, that still doesn't stop the styling being... not fun, not experimental, but simply woeful.

I'm sounding so critical because that cover has been staring out at me for the last three weeks, every time I go into a magazine store, and I wish someone would take it away. At the start, I didn't mind it, but now it just irritates me.

I can't remember the last time I've noticed a bad make-up job on a cover. The blush is just...
