Of course, they should have made more use of Rosie as she is stunningly beautiful, it's UK Elle though. Just look at what UK Vogue done with her over a year ago, they made full use of her potential, the cover was fabulous, yeah her editorial was short and teasing but at least it got executed damn well.
Anyway back to this cover, despite it looking more for Spring rather than the fall season I might just surprisingly purchase this issue. Obviously it isn't groundbreaking, at the same time it isn't terrible. I know I have previously said I have no intention of buying this magazine in the future so I sound a bit hypercritical but this being the September issue is a good excuse right?
the coverlines are clueless but the image and pose of Rosie works really well and they didn't get overboard with the styling which is cool and something stylists struggle a lot with
It's too spring like and it's still not a powerful enough image i feel for a september cover. Also i would be far more interested in it if they used other more fashion focused models, instead of Rosie, but again i know that it would be highly unusual for Elle to use someone like Aymeline or Natasha.
Her face is even odder on the subs cover. I was quite saddened when it came through my door. There isn't even another newsstand or Limited Edition cover for this issue either.
Of course her face is sad! Didn't you all hear that she withdrew from the Olympics Closing ceremonies because she wants to be looked at as an actress and not a model? Modeling for a magazine cover is not her job anymore, duh!
That's odd. Because there's one small paragraph that mentions Rosie's acting ambitions, and the rest hails her a supermodel. Nonetheless, Rosie's feature is the one stimulating element to the issue. Everything else is a complete bore. The editorials consist of tedious photographers, models and stylists - the Elle standard.
What happened to Rosie's face on both covers ? It looks really off and I've got a hard time believing that there were no better shoots of her to put on the covers.
And yes, the styling looks like they've got the seasons wrong.
That proves just how much Elle cares about any / everything. I'm sure it wasn't just a speculation (Rosie's withdrawal from the ceremony) so hailing her modeling ways when her career focuses on acting is plain ignorant and stupid or desperate. Or both.
The simple truth is that regardless of her infamous pout, this is far from being a good cover. In general. and for Rosie in particular.
Having now read the full issue it's so vapid for a September issue. It's almost as if they've treated it as a January issue of something. It's all so incredibly blah.
