UK Elle September 2017 : Cara Delevingne by Kai Z Feng

I absolutely hate the font. Looks so amateur.

And those tags!! Did they use Google translate? Randomly picked words out of a dictionary? So bizarre.

I love the first cover... her face is really perfect...

It looks fresh and modern, I like it! Cara looks great as well, love the styling. So overall a great cover for September.

I´m obssesed with this new art direction
can´t find the font though and it´s driving me crazy...

Ophélie, Fernanda.....seems the casting also got a facelift. Imo these are very top and 'new' models for Elle UK. 'Wonky World' is nothing new for them, but I like it. More impressed with the Dior edit. It was clever to use the backdrop as the same colour as Fernanda's hair.

In my stores, the two covers are available, it seems with an equal split between the sheepskin/poloneck shots.

It really stands out on newsstands. I find it a bit irritating it comes bagged up and some of the effect is lost. It's a really striking design and cover.

Must admit that I'm absolutely loving the redesign!

I refrained from returning to this thread after posting the covers because I wanted to have a genuine reaction toward the magazine's new look when I bought a copy at the airport last week. I couldn't agree more with you, honeycombchild. The cover design is so striking, really feels like a breath of fresh air on the shelves and the layout works wonderfully with the cover images (especially the closeup - which I made a beeline for). Also, I love the white boarder around the cover image. So different, fresh and unique. Yes!

The sleek fonts continue inside the issue (with some explanation from Curtis in the editor's letter) and everything just works so beautifully. I believe Anne-Marie Curtis will do wonderful things for British Elle. I can completely relate to her love of print magazines and the history she's had with Elle since she was a teenager. I absolutely loathed that pointless internet page/tech vibe redesign Lorraine Candy introduced but this whole new look is a vast VAST improvement.

Major kudos to Anne and team on this one - I'm here for the next issue!

I totally agree with vogue28! I love this new redesign - it feels happy and fun and I keep flicking through. My local shop completely sold out too which is quite rare for Elle. Definitely looking forwards to the next issue!

Has anyone in the UK found this issue in the standard size sold alone? I can only find it sold in a multipack with Cosmopolitan (which doesn't interest me in the slightest even if it is a 'money-saving' technique to buy them together). I can find the travel size sold alone but I prefer a larger size if possible.

I've seen it for sale as a stand-alone copy, but it still came bagged, was it with a River Island discount card?

I bought the multi-pack version with Red and Bazaar, but my copy of Bazaar was torn, despite it being inside a bag.

Standard sized copies are actually available at most newsagents immediately after the issue gets released, then it gradually gets replaced with the multipacks. At least it's like this in my area. Part of me fear for the day they'll do away with single issues because these multipack offers seem to be flying off the shelves. Don't mind them, but I'm not overfond of Red magazine to be honest.

Like the others, I'm also very taken with the new art direction. It reminds me of US InStyle's overhaul which I also liked a lot. Very neat. I'm keen to see how they'll deal with autumn imagery. Speaking of imagery, must say this is really one of the rare issues where all the the fashion campaigns aligned very closely to the in-house content. There's a lot of fashion and it's actually quite cohesive and further the aesthetic of the magazine.

The only aspect which concerns me is the lack of written content. While Lorraine herself was a bad writer imo, I do recall more articles under her reign. Anyway, I imagine that's to be expected when you install a stylist as the EIC.

I saw single-issue copies for sale this morning - but they were in a Spar-type 'local shop' rather than a proper newsagents.

The October issue is listed on newsstand.co.uk as coming out on 19/09/17, so there should be time yet to scout out a copy of September somewhere.

I'm looking forward to the next issue.

The supermarkets near me have both covers, bagged with the discount card. It seems to be quite widely available near me.
