the atmosphere is amazing, very powerful! it's almost too much to take in. other than in the v&r collection i don't experience the masks as distracting but it also is much more eerie...
the clothes themselves are beautiful

I'm having a bit of a love/hate thing going on with this collection. It's eerily elegant. But I don't think the average woman would have the balls to go to a place this dark and depressing. I guess I can only assess each piece in its own context and there are some lovely pieces - some nice skirts and coats. Despite the heavy atmosphere and feeling of dark foreboding, some pieces are quite soft and wearable like the silk camisole.

I think you are right about this... I still don't like the styling and masks thing, but there are some really beautiful pieces... that i'd love to own... Still, I don't get why would someone at a show would want to make "showing" so difficult... and with no obvious reason-at least to me...

the mask is "protection" imo:-P like the wrapping everything. It's such an apocaliptic view. (I am in an apocaliptic mood, since I read about Final Home yesterday:-P)

Anyway, I like the big top thin legs silhouette this season:-P

I am basing this on the quality of his past collections, both men's and women's.

one of the models almost crashed into i think it was nicole phelps... and they were all kind of running into each other...
i wasn't too big of a fan of this collection but i thought that big sweater with white skinnypants and white boots thing was nice...
the thing that was really bad was the SHOES!! the boots were awful...looked like steve madden shoes

I've heard comments like these from my friends in HK (regardless, are still big Undercover fans). Hmm...I've tried on a few pieces in Dover Street Market........ because of the design and it's 'derilicte' quality, it's hard to determine whether it's poor quality or purposefully so.

Yea, I can see how it can make one unsure. What put the last nail in for me was the trench raincoat from this season that had a vintagy looking long sleeve tshirt in the back upside down with sleeves used as a trench belt. While the design was genius - the trench coat felt like it costs $5 - it was one of these really cheap polyester numbers that don't allow your body to breathe - it was disgusting . If you go back to those runway images (SS 06) you will notice how the script is very pronounced and crisp, and the clothes does not look "vintage", but it is in the stores . Maybe it's due to the darkness of the catwalk... Sorry, didn't mean to derail this thread...

So it is not protection but "too much protection":-))

I also have heard about U's quality issues. The felt wool from aw05 is kind of not very resistant, esp. at one's elbows. Maybe it is the felt, tho:-)

I don't think that a Japanese designer will use to his main collection bad quality materials...a proof is that REI KAWAKUBO/CdG invited him to Paris and then to DSM....

Completely agree with you Susie. And now that I see more,I don't have any reservations about the clothes themselves. Alot of really beautiful things here. I love that silk sirt with the bandaged blazer. Great top in that pic above that outfit too. And the shoes and accessories as always with Jun,is absolutely brilliant!

Who knows whether or not Rei is condoning use of poor quality materials. Him inviting Jun to Paris/DSM is no indication of what he thinks about the materials that Jun is using.....

I really don't know why he's done the face covering thing, yes I saw the unwrapping theme and yes it extends this, but it just looks too deliberate. Some of the clothes are absolutely beautiful, the coat in the fourth picture of post 18 and the jumper in the 3rd picture of 19, but, like susie said, I can't get it as a whole.
