Undercover F/W 06.07 Paris

No, i've seen ss06 in person, and i could not agree with you more..
it did look like some cheap used garments..
but what i'm saying is that ss06 might be the only collection with awful quality..so far...

..so unless it is a consistent pattern throughout some collection.. it is safe to say anything at all...

Jun is also a very innovative designer, who explores new themes and areas from collection to collection, so he is not very predictable in any way.. he might do something with dreadful quality and amateurish one season and the next he might do something very couture-ish..

My gf and I own a few pieces from the But Beautiful II collection and the quality aren't that good as well. But since this collection seems more of a commercial clothes comparing to the previous ones, I suspect that the quality would be better.

I wonder what music was played in the show...

I don't know about the menswear from But Beautiful II..
but the womenswear was exquisite.. some very well executed blousons and jerseys.. and especially the jackets was amazing in terms of quality..

what pieces does she have?
because i remember seeing some t-shirts too.. which didn't appear on the runway... they were not very convincing, considering their pricepoint.. but still above average..

:woot: I LOVE THIS STYLE! Awesome!
Best thing I have seen in years!

so tactile. really gorgeous stuff. i will fantasize about owning one of those snuffaluffagus jackets.

totally UC

This was equally dreadful as Helmut Lang's bondage-strappy S/S 2004 collection... totally pointless detailing, IMHO (you can buy additional straps to wrap around the body that match the detailing of the top/jacket).

I am just trying to figure out what the bondage straps/bandages are good for...what do they add to the look that makes them necessary for the design?

I have been to the showroom and have seen the presentation how it was *supposed* to be worn, nobody could adjust the straps in a way that would add to the charm of the clothingl, you can't even wrap them around by yourself properly! I was almost about to ask if they also offered the clothes just without any bandages to wrap around, because apart from that, the detailing on most of the jackets and shirts was really nice.

I really just dislike it when designers go the easy way and explain that you just have to "play" around with the clothes.

I think the straps kind of give the clothing a certain one-off,bandagey,witchy affect. I like that he added such delicate frills to an idea that appeared quite tough and hard-hitting on the catwalk.

It's probably interesting from an editorial point of view, for magazines and imagery use... how on earth though do you incorporate this idea into your daily averageness, even if you are a fashion victim? You're gonna need somebody damn skilled to wrap you up... those jackets and tops do come with the bandages... but they mostly added a skarf-accessory that matches the top... so unless you buy both, you cannot re-create the look...

I love it!! Its good to see that a designer pushing the boundaries and making people think about his/her designs - bad or good!

I'm going to have to agree with tricot on this. Alot of the bandages, straps and so forth are indeed gimmicky and serve not a purpose at all besides looking silly and unacceptable.

However though I believe that this kind of outlandish craziness is what makes UC so endearing to it's followers too. The fact that alot of the designs are pointless and even uncomfortable in an ugly/beautiful way.

Even though I'm not a fan of this collection, I understand the vision of what Jun is trying to do, albeit the sometimes questionable execution of his ideas :)

while i do think there are a lot of hideous pieces, i really really love a lot of it. i think a large number of the pieces are wearable individually... but i love the overall styling as well as the masks. i do agree about the straps, though; seems a bit overzealous to me. some of the collection reminds me of the work eiko ishioka does, which i really like.

i really really really like these 2:

Suzy Menkes asked Jun why he covered the faces , and he answered, just for aesthetic reasons, nothing esle.

Well BB, you said in a previous thread that this is only fashion, so...this is a "fashion SHOW" and you everyseason you have to think something clever to show your collection.

I just love this collection, it is so mistirious and spooky, and i congratulate JUN for covering the faces, i am so sick and tired of all this mainstream designers trying to put wellknown models, with beatiful make up on their shows.

This is true beauty, the cloth itself, nothing else.

to each his own, really.

I am on the contrary "sick and tired" of fashion designers that are doing shows and clothing just for the sake of mere media attention and gimmick, rather than trying to design interesting and real clothes that make sense... I am not questioning Jun's design capabilities but I find it rather uninspired and DONE to cover faces in cloth, I don't see the wit in it, really.

Call me ignorant, I call it pragmatic... :innocent:
