It's interesting...I like the overall styling and theme of the show more than a lot of the clothing itself.
The connection of the t-shirt with this medieval atmosphere is really evocative...t-shirts are essentially icons, they're objects of devotion, and to link that to a period in our history when spiritual devotion was more thoroughly woven into everyday life is an interesting statement.
That said, I agree there's a lot of quoting from Raf Simons here...there are some interesting looks, but nothing that really strikes me as visionary. It's a great presentation of a collection that, absent said presentation, slightly underwhelms.
I do appreciate that spiritual element, though. So many of these designers working with "goth" tropes produce work that is so dry and soulless, but this has a real vivacity to it that is a breath of fresh air next to so much stubborn nihilism.
