Uniqlo

I'm going to London later this month, and I have never been to a Uniqlo store. Which one is likelier to be easier to roam through?

Does anyone have any experience with their oxford shirts?

I'm also mostly going to be touristing and will be taking a backpack only, so I doubt I'll be shopping a lot - asking just in case!

oh runner...that's so funny...
yeah- the shoulder pads and even the scarf...
^_^

MP- i can see how that much volume would be tricky...
imagine how i feel being 5'4" and loving yohji so much...
 ......

i am interested in the culottes/gauchos so i may have to swing by the store tomorrow to have a look in person...
:innocent:

I have been to the two on Oxford Street and the one at Westfield. They were all very crowded. Maybe try to hit them very early and avoid going there on the weekend?

Maybe try the one in Kensington or on Regency street?

Just want to report back that I've now been wearing the hooded coat from the Lemaire collab everyday.. for weeks, cause it's been cold and often rainy where I've been and I've been out most of the time and I'm in love! it just took a bit of time to get used to it but I love it! and keep getting compliments on it..

I was at the Uniqlo flagship in Berlin today and was surprised to see it full of items from that collaboration.. a lot of people checking it out though. I was also glad I didn't venture into ordering anything online cause there was a top from the mens section (long sleeve with a pocket) that looked great in pictures and kind of miserable in person.

Also thought all the clothes from the Roitfeld collaboration are meh.. the vinyl coat looks fun and only wish the shape was more 60s than 90s, you try it on and it's like you're only missing the hair spikes with glitter on the ends.

wait- you kept it?!

your review didn't sound favourable...
to put it mildly...
...

well- glad it worked out, after all...

^_^

*i never even bothered to go to the store to look at any of it...:ermm:

I did! I was 55% leaning towards it but when I was putting it back I realized mine was the only one left and a lady asked me 'you're leaving it?' .. so I took it .. figured I could return it later, but all love now.... a rare purchase, I never buy stuff when I have doubts about it (I guess it helps to be surrounded by vultures with these type of events so it's now or never!)

^^^ Isn’t that just typical of human psychology…? As soon as someone else wants it, we immediately want it even more— whether that’s an Uniqlo piece, or a guy LOL

.. I'm usually more in the "oh you like him too? you can keep him" side of life, but I guess this wasn't love at first sight!

^^^ Oh yay! You’re so generous with your guys, Mullet— I love that in a woman LOL

I’ve made a conscious effort to not buy into these high street/ designer collaborations, ‘cause the affordability is so attractive and before you know it— you’re buying every single piece and stashing it in your fourth wardrobe from IKEA and never even wearing it. I’ve made a decision that I’m wearing either Dickie’s or Dries (i.e. cigarette or pure Columbian coke LOOOL).

omg phuel...
you are hilarious...
...

i'm with you MP...
i always like the guy i think no one else likes and then give up when i find out someone else likes him too...
how noncompetitive can i be?!
...

anyway-i gave up the search and just went to uniqlo for leggings...
got the extra warm heattech cause runner said last year that they really work and also a pair with fleece lining...
so- hopefully they will be warm and comfy and i give up on the ponte pair...
...

also saw the roitfeld stuff and got that polka dot scarf i was looking for...
it's good...
and i mean..REALLY good...
so that's good...
^_^

saw a blk boucle cropped jkt that is blatantly a chanel ripoff and which i will defintitely buy if it gets marked down...
:innocent:

i would just like to add...
that unless the guy likes you back, it's all irrelevant anyway...
and if he does...
no one else would be able to get him, would they?!

i want a guy who likes me so much that no one else would be able to get him, no matter how hard they try...

some clothes feel like that...
they really do...
i put them on and i know that i will look better in them than anyone else...
no matter how hard they try...

:D

i buy those things--- and don't even look at the price ...
cause it doesn't matter...
whatever the cost...it's worth it...

^I always envisioned you as being really hypercompetitive....

the one in Chicago finally opened two weeks ago; my younger brother was geeking out.... the only one I've ever been to is the one on Broadway b/c he wanted to shop there so badly....

nah-
i'm collaborative...not competitive...

Lol Phuel, no generosity, more like a case of male objectification.

This is actually the third time I buy stuff from a collaboration, the last time was pretty quiet, it was only me going through what was left of +J (everything, being LA), but the first time was Marni for H&M and only because I had been thinking someone should come up with some sort of espadrille that's flat but silver so when Costello made my dream come true for like 50 dlls, I had to do it, and I felt like I reached rock bottom being in the line and going in by groups and having to grab a pair of shoes like it was the last meal of my life! never again (until now, but again, uniqlo, much quieter). FYI, I still wear these sandals like there's no tomorrow every summer.. such a good purchase.

Anyway I would never compete for a guy the way I may do it for a table or clothes or a subway spot.. if you have to do that then something's off no?.. if you love something, set it free etc, though there's also a lot of truth in Palahniuk's version of that quote..

^^^ Haha… fight for that stinky seat in the subway—but you can have that guy if you want… The pieces of your personality are coming together really nicely!

I think softgrey is a genuine “softie” LOL (She’d run away and hide if Yohji ever burst out of a Birthday cake naked for her!)

softgrey, do you walk around NYC dressed like you’re wrapped in your fluffiest, toastiest duvet in the wintertime???? Your posts always create the image of someone dressed like she’s in the warmest, brightest and most comfortable cocoon— like the way models would walk dreamily in a Gigli show, while the rest of NYC sludges by miserably in the cold…

Haha, I like to think that as well. That’s why I’ll pay a handsome price and search patiently until that perfect Dries overcoat with the perfect lapels comes along and I can wear it winter after winter, rather than settle for something that’s just good enough— and definitely not from a high street/ designer collaboration. Like that ideal man, I want that coat to last— even if the relationships never have LOL(?)

if Yohji ever burst out of a Birthday cake naked for her

the coat or stinky seat has no say, it's yours if you can outsmart time, or gain strength from the above to force the goddamn door into opening again and letting yourself in (beautiful feeling btw :glare:) but if you have to fight for someone that means the person doesn't really want to be with you right? so you're mostly competing against how he feels, and not really against person #3, been there.. would rather sit naked in that subway seat these days..

Warmest and most comfortable I can picture, but more dark/mysterious than brightest I think....

OMG, Mullet— all the outsmarting, brute force and strength, (him having no say,)… just like my last relationship.

I picture you like Alanis Morrissette in her video where she’s naked in the subway, in a restaurant, on the streets— and now forcing the subway doors open naked with your brute strength… You sexy nudist, you!

(Weather’s starting to get chilly now, looking forward to wrap myself in my Dries coat and piles and piles of cashmere. Don’t think I’ll ever be as daring as yourself, Mullet: Can’t see myself naked in the subway, ‘cause the cold and being naked is a visual nightmare to any man’s ego, if you know what I mean LOL)

yeah- that sounds more accurate...
lots of blk and gry and navy mixed with bits of silver and gold here and there...
maybe a flash of red now and then...
a bit of brown/olive/burgundy for richness...
white and off white are as light and bright as it gets, but that is very limited...

so yeah---
went back to uniqlo and scored a cashmere cardi for only $49.99
dk grey body with navy sleeves- no fastenings...
very basic and cool...

also found some left over lemaire...
the bottoms are not nice, imo...
i don't like the quality of the wool felt...too stiff/thick...
but the knits are quite nice...
i got a swingy v-nk l/s merino swtr in blk which i think will be a good basic...
saw an ivory cashmere sweater dress that i thought was a steal at $129.99...
not that i would wear it myself...but it was really really soft and yummy...
seemed good for a taller person...
even the plain wool cardi is really nice quality wool...
really soft...
though it might pill like crazy if it's that soft...?

anyway- yeah- love uniqlo...
considering one of the blk lightweight down things- vest or jkt (not sure) in a shiny blk nylon cause i think that would be nice worn under wool coats for an extra layer of warmth...
the contrast of textures- natural and techno- appeals to me...
have to check the coats in my closet to see how many already have hoods though...
a LOT of them do...
...

this is the lemaire swtr i got in blk
though, if i had seen the ivory, i might have gotten that...
seems very useful/versatile in both colours...

uniqlo

*maybe it reminds me a bit of sacai in the ivory...^_^
