Do you have, or know of, a unique bag that you love? Maybe you made it yourself or found it one day on ebay or in a random shop. Anyway... Pics please! :)

(It doesn't have to be one of a kind, but you know what I mean I'm sure!)

I use vintage (80s) clutch bags that I find at thrift shops for 1 or 2 dollars, I love the look and its kinda nice to have an original handbag (meaning there aren't a million of them) I don't like to carry the same handbag or dress like everyother person. And the price I pay for the handbags allows me to purchase as many as I want and when I get tired of them I just donate them to be purchased and used again.

ans another one.. now these.. I just LURVE

www.tomtom.co.uk yes it's a cigar shop.. click on Accessories and then Ladies Handbags .. how's that for kool recycling.. posh cigar boxes crafted into handbags.. all at £195 each.. my fave is the Partagas in back and gold

i make my own bags...i'll post some later...as my camera battery is charging right now. right now, im working on a python skin bag....still working out the details in my sketchbook, but the skin i bought is HUGE and very nicely colored...beiges, and taupes and chocolate browns....i think its going to turn out really nice!

here's a bag i did last year. its a burgundy/chesnut colored leather and the inside is gold silk....it has fabric panels on the outside and the magnetic closure is the bird feathers...it looks better with things in it. its been sitting in my closet since last fall so it's kinda limp...but it took me forever to put in all of the grommets!

^^ Wow, jun! You're very talented. That's a great looking bag. I don't suppose you would be interested in selling it? ;)

The FREITAG Messenger Bags are more or less one of a kind, the printing on the tarp is, if you choose wisely (monocolors are likely to appear more often...)

its funny you ask, i've had quite a few people ask me if i'd sell the things i'd make...i guess for the right price ^_^

All these bags are awesome. I love the idea of unique bags rather than designer or "inspired" bags, and recycling materials is definitely a way to make things interesting :)

jun I hope you are working in the industry, because I feel that could easily be the envy of many top designers today. (Quite often many of their bags make me cringe, it makes me think that they only have a few good ideas and then just crank out some monogrammed crap to fill the shelves...) Anyway, it seems like the kind of career you could excel at easily :)

I wanted to add that the reason I like unique bags better than designer bags is because there aren't 10,000 more of them being carried around by 10,000 other women I have nothing in common with...

So I was not trying to insult jun by saying she should consider going into the industry :)

I would have made the edit myself but this site went down RIGHT after I posted it (and I was waiting for the "edit post" thing to come up)...all I have to say is ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! perhaps consider a better more reliable server TFS ppl :)

I agree, very cool bag, Jun! It almost reminds me of the silverado, with the woven handles and the clasp going around the middle.

hey thanks, and i dont take that the wrong way either. i did design for dooney and bourke...and sad to say, the fashion world is not all its cracked up to be. it's definately a love-hate relationship with me and the fashion world. i love designing and would love to do it for a living but the lifestyle and butt kissing and selling out really disgust me. i was planning on going into it professionally, but there's so much negativity and boozing, that it almost takes away from the art that it should be...im still considering it, but i look at the industry in a whole new light....and i think a lot of the people who want to go into the fashion industry, dont understand the darkside of it...it's really rather disheartening..

jun3machina - that bag is gorgeous. i can't believe you made it! i'm well impressed... it's stunning. if i saw that in a shop, i'd have definitely bought it! despite your doubts about the industry, i would give it a go if i were you cause you just can't put talent like that to waste.

well thanks for the comment! i think maybe i sill pursue it eventually....im actually an illustration major and have two main art focuses right now, fashion and illustration. i know they fit hand in hand....so thats a good thing, and im still pretty young (21) so i know whatever comes my way, will lead me in the right direction...in the meantime, i wish school was over already! :p

Well, I guess mine and my friend's aren't really unique, but they are compared to everyone at our private schools with their Coach, Louis Vuittons, and Dooney and Bourkes that all look alike (for some reason they all buy the EXACT same ones). I got this one as a birthday gift from my friend. It's from Target, but way cute:

$14.44

I didn't like it at first, but it quickly grew on me. It's very smushy and holds a lot, because it doesn't have a hard shape that can only hold rectangular things. Lots of room and stuff.

Well, I can't find my friend's on the website. But it's even cuter, with floppy flowers made out of fabric scraps and buttons. I love it even more than mine.

They might be mass produced and $15, but Target bags have a lot of personality. I think they're fun. And they hold out for a surprising amount of time; they're pretty good quality. But if you get tired of them, you don't have to feel bad because you still got change from a 20 when you bought them.

yeah I think that bag is pretty cute. I don't think we have Target in Canada. Is it like Walmart or Zellers (if you've heard of those?)

Never heard of Zellers. Target is similar to Wal-Mart except for the fact that Wal-Mart is evil and takes advantage of its employees and Target doesn't. Have you heard of Marshalls or TJ Maxx? Target is also sort of like those. Basically a store with food, music, electronics, clothes, accessories, low-end jewelry, etc. Cheap prices.
