Nina must've begged for a bigger budget because I don't think I've ever seen this much fashion content in post-digital Elle. And while I'll say good on her for getting it, I'm not sure her and Gan are putting it to great use. They're going for quantity over quality. Despite the up-to-date model and photographer casting, some of these edits just don't work. It's just a bunch of soulless, generic 'fashion' stories. There's no fun, spirit or quirk in what I'm seeing here. Winnie's edit should never have seen the light of day. That said, I do like Life in the Fast Lane because it's giving me glam Kylie Minogue in Can't Get You Out of My Head, and some of Gigi's shots.
Naturally with this much fashion content, you can only imagine the written variety to be trimmed tremendously. There's almost nothing to read in this issue. Maybe it was just for the big fashion month, but we are in an era where everyone is striving for sustainability. A bunch of glossy pictures won't satisfy an audience which in this case have been conditioned to expect substance above all else.
Time for me to start completing my collection of Robbie Meyers-era Elle.
