US Elle March 2023 : Gigi Hadid by Mario Sorrenti

Much better than some of her other recent work! Still, I wish she’d get rid of the ramen noodle hair

omg thanks for the laugh. That was good! <3

I don’t think so. I think these covers were paid by Netflix. Gigi is the new host of Netflix’s show “Next in Fashion”. If Netflix can get 10+ Emily in Paris covers, they can surely get Gigi a few covers.

Could be, but in my opinion Collins' covers were no more likely "bought" by Netflix than SJP's covers during the Sex and the City years were "bought" by HBO. Plus Collins has Lancôme and Cartier - two of the most spendthrift advertisers around.

My perception is that this has happened before, where Bella is crushing it and Gigi was struggling a bit with her career post-baby, and so Bella was held back to give Gigi the spotlight. I know Yolanda is not technically their manager, but she "works closely" with their manager and is notoriously very controlling of her daughters. Somehow this feels like her doing, to me. Gigi is the favorite. Bella walked so many of the big shows in the fall and had the biggest viral moment of the season with the spray on dress. Then the whole "Gigi Hadid, you are not the doll. Bella Hadid is the doll. You're the cabbage patch. She's the Barbie" thing that was going around, she was getting attacked by Kanye.... Now Bella is MIA and Gigi is getting covers and campaigns? I mean, sure, Netflix, but this is not a priority show for them or an expensive one to produce - how many covers did they get for Alexa Chung when she was co-hosting the exact same show?

^ I have to agree, in different degrees this is recurrent for their manager. I'm still surprised Gigi and even Hailey have gotten several late night show appearances and Bella.. none, and it always feels very 'Gigi is Gigi and Bella.. you're not doing so bad yourself!', when Bella is the one that's been far superior in terms of work and relevance for easily five years now.

Anyway this looks incredibly lazy and rushed for a March issue. It looks like it took them roughly 3 hours to brainstorm it and complete it. There was a brief moment right before her pregnancy and around the time she started walking for Marant, when Gigi was slightly interesting to look at and not questionable at all as a model, but this? face and body-wise, it's just sooo boring. It could be a Vanessa Hudgens ed for all I know, someone just inexplicably.. insipid.

My favourite cover out of the three is the first one, but throughout this whole entire shoot there's just nothing behind the eyes. No emotion, no energy, no nothing. The long noodle-like hair as so perfectly described by @tipi1355 is draining the life out of her! A wasted opportunity of a cover shoot.

Yeah, this has happened way too many times for me not believe it

Gigi actually is "Elle" material... works here, not when they try to sell her through Vogue etc. If we would like to see nice covers and editorials again we would need to reconsider booking models for their strong portfolios and not strong following on IG (and the same for some of the photographers actually). I am devastated on seeing how low is all this nepo-celeb-thing going: Influencers as cover girls, Bryan Boy at Perfect, Pharell at Louis Vuitton, what's next - Rhianna as creative director of Chanel? Those people bring buzz, but ... so much buzz about nothing.

Not only bores but where is the fashion? The blue bunny ears are something a 12 year old would wear for Halloween.

The whole thing screams,”I’ve got my old flat tummy back, feast your eyes”.

The only picture i like is the one with the open jumpsuit...the rest is more GQ than Elle...even if they wanted to sex-up Gigi there is a fashion way that is more interesting than this...

I got the second cover in the mail.

She's not the only one! So many models became ELLE material and that's because the forced posture of CN these days. Forget to see bombshells ore sexy models on the cover of Vogue. Anja's recent cover was the exception in such a long time. Glad to see so many models that vanished from Vogue's covers and editorials.
