US Harper's Bazaar November 2022 : Emily Ratajkowski by Amy Troost

It doesn't matter what ability, talent or characteristics the cover model brings to the table for Harper's Bazaar under Samira Nasr.

Instead of playing into those, the cover model is drained of them and left looking lifeless and awkward in a pile of baggy ill-fitting clothes blending into a dull or dark backdrop.

"Where creativity lives".

LOL So hilariously, witlessly bad-- it’s good.

I suspect Balenciaga dictated on the head-to-toe styling, and that it has to look identical to the way this look was shown on-brand, so the stylist can’t play with proportions, creative revisions, nor add any other outside elements to alter this look etc etc. What we’re left with is some 3rd-rate “model” looking like a 5yo child wearing her obese sister's clothes. (Creative would be had the stylist been allowed to just tie the jacket around her waist and dress her in a fitted tanktop/baby-Gap tee/bra to recall TLC/Aaliyah/Janet of the 90s… But of course that would be off-brand and not allowed in these corporate fashion days.)

To Samira’s credit, she’s finally— though unintentionally, produced a cover that doesn’t resemble instantly forgettable wallpaper.

Samira was included in this year's BOF 500, a list of 500 people "shaping the global fashion industry, curated by the editors of The Business of Fashion, based on nominations and on-the-ground intelligence from around the world". Someone thinks that she is doing something right.... I wish they could explain what it is exactly that she is doing right.

Considering the state of fashion and magazines right now, I understands how BOF can struggle to fill up a list with 500 people. They needed some filler names
