US Vogue December 2024 : Kaia Gerber by Steven Meisel

Spectacular! The issue will be a Christmas gift to myself. Absolutely love the full-body cover featuring Kaia. I love the Marc Jacobs evening dress, the hair, the makeup, and the high-fashion drama. The photographs are all so beautiful and eye-catching: classic Steven Meisel. The colors look delicious. I love that the issue is edited by the brilliant Marc Jacobs. A fantastic way to end the year ❤️

There's a cool short documentary that takes you behind the scenes of the December issue showcasing some of the editorials included. The editorials seem exciting and playful and it's a refreshing change from what we typically see in Anna's Vogue.

Just like ages ago she stole well trained photographers and stylists from Harpers after Liz passing, she now stole old concept of guest editor and Meisel covers from killed VP and Vogue UK and now restoring her Vogue back to its old shape like woke/new (untalented) talents years never happened. How soon we will see Kidman and Gwyneth on the cover again and model+actor love story ed inside?

I love Meisel but the retouching looks crazzyyy even for him.

Kai's hand is averagely painted, if you want to check if a given artist can really paint, you analyze the hands and feet.
it's all subjective but this sounds like a pointer some teacher in art school gives you to ignite scrutiny.. her work is not too profound but it does touch on the perfection social media tries to sell and that it's flawed upon closer look.. as if she had dropped the ball on crucial parts with lack of proportion or full erasure of features, whereas you see exceptional attention to detail in things like fabric and hard objects.

Based on the documentary the other eds in this issue are:

Penn-esque beauty ed about lashes and nails by Carlijn Jacobs starring Anok Yai & Alex Consani
Marc's home by Gregory Crewdson
Multi models ed inspired by different types of dance by Inez & Vinoodh

Where is the documentary?

happy to see Steven back on Vogue US, and very happy to see Grace Coddington again (who I love madly) but I would have preferred less pastel colors and something more festive celebratory!!! but I have to say that this could be the year of the rebirth of Vogue US...with the new year I would be happy to see more celebrity by Meisel, and to see the classic photographers David Sims, Steven Klein, Craig McDean return!! Give us back Testino and Weber too!!

meisel signed the covers of Vogue US for years before Edward became EIC of Vogue UK.... better to go back to covers of Gwyneth Nicole Renée Charlize than to have Kardashians, poets, activists etc on Vogue!!!

Interesting to see Meisel+Grace back on the cover of the American issue. Doesn't do much for me, though. I would've gone full color or maybe exploring a full white background instead of the grey one.

And what? They all were same comercial as of every other photographer, lets not even start on his end of 90th - early 2000 trash covers

Kaia is beautiful, tall, thin. That's all.I prefer the muscular presence of her mother.

Always, at the beginning of her career she stole the idea from European magazines, then it was possible to hide it. The only person who didn't fall for it was Andy Warhol, once she went to a job interview with him and he laughed at her.

It sounds like you work in some mega art gallery. It's still average because she uses some tricks that are supposed to make it easier. She have the right to do that, not everyone has to be perfect in technique, but if you can do it well, even if you choose cubism, these types of things are preserved. Technique is important because if you want to do something groundbreaking, you have a basis to question it.
Here is a banal product, if someone sees it they will never guess that it is about criticism of social media and perfectionism. It is simply a beautiful paintings inspired by typical themes in art, but it's better than another co-op with KAWS

It evokes emotions in nerds analyzing the ability to mark the number of bones in the body:lol::rofl:
