US Vogue February 2013 : Rooney Mara by David Sims

I feel like they could have done so much with Rooney because she has such a distinct and cool look.... but this is what they come up with?!!

I am just thankful it wasn't Kate Upton. :ninja:

Oh God I was not expecting this and I would have preferred if it had never hapenned. I love Rooney and like the job she does as an actress but the cover looks amateur, and I'm really sick of seeing the same color scheme on American Vogue, and it looks like M&M... why can't they come up with something better? Gray and red, wow... What's up for next month? Pink? I hope beyonce's cover does her justice

If the inside editorial is just a 6 page story of studio shots then I might kill someone, with someone like Rooney better things can be done... No need for a studio, but I'm just gonna wait.

Really Bad Cover look Mert & Marcus or Meisel

With the exception of the black and white portrait that begins to get somewhere, so far the whole thing reads as incredibly cold and apathetic, and leaves me indifferent. I feel no way about it what-so-ever, which is even worse than complete disdain.

Congratulations to David Sims for his first (?) Vogue US cover! That being said, I find her expression really weak.

OMG why the editorial look so boring and insipid

The cover really is beautiful in my opinion, it's so haunting in a certain light, and Rooneys beauty is perfect for this type of in your face cover. But tbh I'm just glad it's not Kate upton on the cover

I love this cover  , but the text ruins it, her ed is stunning.

I'm glad than Sims got his first cover of US Vogue, he did a great work.

Rooney's portraits are beautiful. It's embarrassing when the inside ed turns out beautiful when the cover that accompanies it is horrible
I'm sure it's David Sims's first US Vogue cover. Hope the next covers he shoots will be better than this, though.

Love her, the cover and the editorial. Especially the first shot.

Just don't understand why the color scheme is the same as her previous cover.. grey background again?

This is one of the worst US Vogue covers i have ever seen, that is not her best angle, i mean even her whole face is not in the frame, and the close up doesnt work for her. And then there is the plain background, and all that text even more poping, just bad all around.

Rooney's editorial has three shots from the same angle. They couldn't be bothered to have variety or a theme even?

I'm going to call that this will be the worst-selling Vogue cover of 2013. Nothing about this cover would make me want to pick it up at the newstand.

I want to like this. I love the fact the shot is a close-up, something rare for American Vogue, so I applaud that. But I dislike how incoherent the colours of the fonts are, against the cover shot. The text is too close to Rooney's face.

I think the cover is fantastic. It's subtly redefining the concept of "American" at the same time as it is reminiscent of some of the early 80s covers.
