US Vogue September 2018 : Beyoncé by Tyler Mitchell

I like it. Its good, but definitely aint bad by any chance. Beyonce flexing her influence to choose an indie photographer saved this month's issue.

Surprisingly i quite like it, particularly the second cover.
I cannot stand her in hysterical glamazon mode, big hair and oily skin, so even first cover, with the sort of “baiana” look works for me. And the headwear is used infinitely better here than in Rihanna’s cover.
Of course it’s all a bit generic, that filter is overused, but they are nice cool images.

Looks so cheap, like an editorial for a spring collection by Mango

It's fine/predictable. She's never been able to transform in print the way she can in music videos and on stage. The editorial has nicer shots than the two covers; first one is probably marginally better.

It's better that what I was expecting. Not that I didn't expect the photographer to be good (I knew he was) but because Beyonce has a thing for being pretentiously tacky. And she almost achieves that with that horrendous headpiece. I like the second cover but I would have put the arms in front of the logo. I'm not in love with the editorial. I like two or three pictures but everything else comes out as a millionaire playing simpleton. Terrible styling overall. And she looks insufferable as always.

Hope they give Tyler a chance to shoot another cover or editorial, next time with a model. Maybe Imaan Hammam... :crush:

Love both covers and editorial. This is the look she has been going for these past few years since she did Lemonade and I love that that more natural candid fashion forward side to her was explored here. Cant wait to get this!

never understand why page number can be a selling point highlighted on the cover, ppl know those are all just useless ads that will become an over-weighted burden for readers
One of the reasons I buy the September issue is the ads. They are part of the issue IMO

I am bored.

Beyonce is just repeating what she has been doing lately. Is clear who had control over issue theme.

I don't get fuss about photographer as well -- I don't care what how you are physically, but I do care if you are talented. I don't know much about him, it's a very poor job for September.

in old days, me too! when ads of luxury are still work of art and creativity, and only can be seen in fashion magazine
but nowdays u can see these ads online everywhere, those pages just lost mystery and glamour somehow,
and the quality of campaigns now, just ummmm........

three consecutive 'natural' covers for american Vogue, in addition to Gisele and Saoirse. Anna wants to keep it real!

I feel like were supposed to like it. The problem is that the fashion element is nonexistent. It looks very Tumblr-esque. Beyonce for the Instagram generation. I don't like that. The setup is strange. It's has an old time kind of vibe. If she was wearing Haute Couture then it would have worked. Instead they styled her like the village harlot. I'm not criticizing Beyonce personally, it's the creative that I have a problem with. Beyonce will sell for obvious reasons. Moving forward, they have to step it up. Hearst is going to overtake Conde. It's not going to be pretty.
