Valentino Haute Couture S/S 2025 Paris

Anyone has intel on how good or bad AM’s collection is doing in stores? I really don’t see any of his creations in my city everyone is still wearing their Rockstuds and Vlogo here
I work at a boutique across from Valentino & people quite literally point & laugh at their windows. Talked to a few current as well as previous (a friend of mine who was there for a while jumped ship as soon as they heard of Alessandro’s appointment lol) CAs & they both say very little is moving, a few pops here & there but other than that most categories have halted (especially almost everything Men’s).

I used to see so many shopping bags (rather large ones too, usually meaning RTW sales) come out of their store & it’s a ghost town draped in curtains lately. A lot of their clients were mature, rich women with old money who “don’t want to wear their mother’s clothing”. Their words not mine.

It all makes total sense... No one wants to look like this, it's just so... fake? Gucci, by its name, could attract a certain clientele that would dive into madness as long as logo was involved. At Valentino? Good luck.

God I knew tfs will hate it but...guys, devil's advocate here, sorry.

First the presentation was great. When he wants to put on a show, he nails it. I still love the weird hospital show with the models carrying heads. lol

For once a designer presented a show note that makes SENSE. Not just drunk academic sentences.

There is something baroque about the idea of lists. Enumeration till you get tired and write et cetera. I loved that idea. But my problem here is not the list, it's how narrow it is, even if it's full of elements. Michele seems to be stuck in this antiquarian world full of old stuff, some of them beautiful, but nevertheless why deprive yourself of enjoying the present things? Past and present are both actual and I thought a guy like him would understand that, but for him only the past matters. This is why I don't feel TENSION in his clothes/looks.

I love how despite the whole industry going in the opposite direction, he continues to do his maximalist aesthetics. But again it's becoming repetitive. How do you work with so many elements and things always turn out similar? Something is wrong. He needs to reinvent his maximalism if he wants to keep it relevant.

one of my favorite looks. both simple and complex. the skirt western, the top and hair eastern, maybe.

My goodness when your clothes start to look dustier and more dated than the actual Valentino pieces from the 1960s and 70s, you've got a problem.

This was horrendous. For a start those big gowns were ridiculously ugly and ostentatious for no other reason than to make a statement on social media. I didn't find them to be beautiful or dreamy in any way whatsoever. And those eerie masks did not help.

Second of all, I was shocked at how un-modern everything looked. Even by his standards, these looks were seriously démodé. Even Maria Grazia and Pierpaolo, when they explored themes like Tudor England or Ancient Rome, managed to create something modern.

I'm sorry but this collection was not it. He was trying way too hard to do something spectacular and groundbreaking (he wants to be the current generations Galliano so bad), but in the end it just flopped. Those medieval clown costumes/gowns are unforgivable.

I'll take Vintage Valentino over whatever this was in a heartbeat!

I love that original white dress from SS 2007 so much, and he dares to style it with a Nacho Libre mask. ffs

After the abyssal level of Dior (where the second to last look was a woman disguised as a hen with lingerie, please let's not forget) and the blandness and puerility of Chanel, I am all for this maxi carnival in Venice.
And who cares about who is going to wear this?
If there is a place where we can experiment with fashion, without worrying if it is appropriate for our everyday or for work, it is the Haute Couture.
Bravo Alessandro!

Lacroix (unlike Alessandro Michele) at least knew how to make garments that were desirable/sensual and made the woman wearing them feel attractive.

AM's work is so sterile and devoid of any sex appeal, who'd be attracted one of these Valentino pinatas? Maybe the big skirts are meant to keep people away from the wearer rather than draw them in.

It feels like all these comparison photos are just Alessandro shutting us down, but I don't really see any Venetian messenger in Valentino's repertoire. Coincidentally, these are the pieces I thought were the most Valentino-esque...

Valentino's popularity must be regional. Here in Palm Beach it’s insanely hot, and my PS at NM said people are really responding well to Alessandro. They know him from Gucci and are following him.

it's not helping with the side-by-side inspirations. He obviously need editing. So far what has been lacking is the complete vision. Unlike when he was at Gucci, someone everything came together. Here nothing really makes sense and they just just piles of over the top dated stuff. Their PR has been pushing the new bag, but nothing seems to catch on the trend.
