Loathed the vast majority of Alessandro Michele's Gucci campaigns and judging by the look of this, it'll be the same with his Valentino offerings. This whole maximalist concept just feels so dated in 2024, despite everything feeling very rich and regal here. Not for me...

Still not sold on the collection, I am just glad there is someone who does story-telling and brings back "dreams, emotions, and entertainment", as the CEO stated in the Financial Times. It's so rare nowadays when CDs manage to create a full universe. I just wish Alessandro's tenure will not be exclusively rooted in nostalgia.

Childish wall flowers. Again. And it’ll be done again and again and again… and again. And do we really need this look of “maximalism” to happen again too? His Valentino is already feeling like it’s been going on for too long.

The lighting is nice. The set looks luxuriating. The impersonator is funny. Shame the rest is so blah. It just desperately calls for more sex and allure to be injected into this.

I am wondering if Michele's Gucci 2.0 sells well, and I do like what he did for Valentino more than his Gucci where the campaign were always good.
