Vanity Fair ‘Awards Insider’ January 2022 : Caitríona Balfe by Nick Riley Bentham

So, there's no more "Hollywood Issue"?

^Your guess is as good as mine! This is an 'Awards Insider' issue according to Vanity Fair but the cover states January 2022, while last month's Jennifer Lawrence offering was a combined December/January issue. Odd.

This must be a digital issue or special supplement, because the February print issue isn't due out until 21st January, and then the Hollywood issue - I think - is scheduled to be the March one.

Will the one time Northern Ireland gets mentioned in huge letters on the front of a magazine also be the moment when I'll never be able to get hold of a copy.

So happy for her...she is so good...and a little forgotten from magazines...sweet girl

^and that´s weird because she used to be a model, she should have gotten tons of fashion covers at the height of Outlander :hardhead:

I think this issue will be printed and available on newstands. I believe they've done these kind of special issues around this time of year several times before. The cover with RuPaul and covers with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Bill Murray, and Stephen Colbert come to mind. I seem to remember them being labeled "holiday" or "special issue" or something as opposed to just a month of the year, though I may be mistaken.

Caitrionaa .. she can do no wrong in my eyes, this is lovely.. and how exciting if she is planning to direct!

^!!.. ever looked at an early 00s Balenciaga collection? (or any 00s major show really..). Probably the only model-turned-actress who actually had a successful and rich modeling career and who can act too, she’s flawless in Outlander.

She’s really good in Belfast, too. It’s an awards favorite this year and she has a decent chance of scoring a Best Supporting Actress nomination! I hope this film gives her career another jolt of energy, her scoring this cover is definitely a good sign.

So close to perfection... Catriona & the Old Hollywood vibe is a stellar combination... but this is just 'off', and frankly inexcusable.

This is probably either an online edition, or a special supplement.

If you look at the recent cover with Jennifer Lawrence, it says Dec 2021-Jan 2022 on the front, to be followed by the Feb 2022 print issue.

Looking online, it seems last year's Awards Insider had Gillian Anderson on the cover.

Vanity Fair launches Awards Insider
16 JUNE 2021

Dedicated awards industry writers will contribute to the new multi-platform trade

Vanity Fair U.S. today announced the launch of Awards Insider — a new multichannel industry brand dedicated to covering exclusive Hollywood news, awards campaigns, and industry intel. Vanity Fair has long been an essential read for Hollywood’s inner circle and awards voters. Now the brand is doubling down on its presence in this exciting space with exclusive new digital, social, and print offerings — delivered to Vanity Fair’s proprietary list of film and TV industry insiders.

“Hollywood is core to Vanity Fair,” says Editor-in-Chief Radhika Jones. “We’re obsessed with covering the journey of awards season, and what it takes to get to the top. As the industry continues to undergo transformational change, no one is better poised than Vanity Fair — with its cultural influence and deeply sourced reporting—to keep awards voters, creators and fans informed.”

Katey Rich has been promoted to awards and audio editor, overseeing all awards coverage for the brand. Rich joined Vanity Fair in 2013 and has since edited the HWD and Vanities sections on VanityFair.com, also launching and cohosting the awards-focused "Little Gold Men" podcast. Rebecca Ford will join as senior awards correspondent, and David Canfield has joined as staff writer. Previously, Ford was senior awards editor at The Hollywood Reporter, and Canfield was movies editor at Entertainment Weekly. Both will be writing about Hollywood, with a focus on the Emmy and Oscar awards races, including the film festivals, events, business and culture that surround them. Ford, Canfield, and Rich will report to executive Hollywood editor Jeff Giles.

Awards Insider is an evolution of Vanity Fair’s existing Awards Extra business—from a print-only awards supplement into a full-fledged multiplatform destination—offering deep dive reports on the changing nature of power, casting, finance, awards campaigns, executive news, and industry gossip. Coverage will draw on Vanity Fair’s access and insight to explore the seismic trends disrupting the industry, from the streaming wars and Big Data to the need for more diverse leadership and content.

“Over the past few years, Vanity Fair has helped lead a more inclusive, forward-looking conversation within the entertainment industry,” said Pam Drucker Mann, Condé Nast’s global chief revenue officer and president, U.S. revenue. “By expanding its coverage of the industry, Vanity Fair will be an indispensable resource to an influential audience of entertainment leaders, bringing our audiences more of what they love and creating exciting new opportunities for our advertisers.”

Vanity Fair’s growth in the awards space is bolstered by the success of "Still Watching," the brand’s podcast for your latest TV obsession, which has seen a more than 80% increase in downloads YoY. Vanity Fair’s omnipresence throughout awards season — from its coveted Oscar night party and portrait series to its recent awards-season charity event, Vanity Fair’s Cocktail Hour, Live! — makes it one of the most influential platforms in the space.

Vanity Fair has a global readership of 34.7M across print and digital, and reaches more than 18.4M across its social channels. In Q1 of 2021—an unprecedented awards season—Vanity Fair’s monthly site traffic was up more than 20%, and industry-specific coverage saw more than 38% higher time spent than the sitewide average. Meanwhile, Vanity Fair’s HWD vertical earned its highest-ever time spent in March 2021.
