I've noticed a rather strange trend on guys while on vacation in London -- velcro shoes. Lacoste, Adidas, Nike... I've seen all brands, but I've honestly been wondering what's so appealing about them. I'm sure there are at least a few others that agree with me when I say that they make you look a little, erm, mentally challenged? So, what's it going to be -- love or hate?

And also, what would you guys say is the perfect outfit to go along with these? I'm just wondering. From what I've read so far, a lot of you seem to be fairly fashion-consious ^_^

^ me too! Velcro is ew in my book.

Earlier today, I was reading about the various ways to tie laces and I thought how cool is that!

really ? :ninja: i'm getting tired of laces myself--i've been wearing them for ages... i feel they sometimes look too formal
i like the clean look of shoes with velcro

i haven't seen a lot of these shoes where i'm living
but i do see a rise in 'slip-in' shoes... you just slip your feet into them, no tying, no strapping, just get feet in and leave the house
ie. loafers, keds, and some others

Personally I love these two...

So simple...

some velcro shoes remind me of orthopedic shoes. but i've seen some pretty nice ones. the velcro craze hasn't hit my area yet, so perhaps it's only those Londoners [perhaps it has something to do with the rain and shoe laces getting soaked...i hate that]

it's a Puma slip-on, but has a velcro strap [not sure what it's function is though]

this one is ok too

You say that like it's a negative thing! They were ahead of the game with velcro shoes, who knows what they'll inspire others to do next?

Seriously, laces are ********, all that tying and the risk of things coming undone while crossing a road. I love the speed of velcro shoes, as long as the design is done well - a design that takes advantage of the ways in which you can hide the closures in the overall shape of the shoe.

There are bigger and better things to be doing with your time than spending it tying your shoes. I vote for velcro.

I've had the velcro version of Adidas Stan Smith for 4 years now, and before that I had Gola velcro trainers.

Lacoste footwear is pretty big among preppy kids in Finland. So at least in here velcro has been publing under a long time

That's a good point -- I stand corrected

It would actually be really interesting to try to predict what trends they'll inspire next.

You all forgot some of the coolest velcro shoes ever.

Oh, god, can we say three year old? I find velcro shoes to be so childish. I mean, #1 they are just ugly and #2 if you are over the age of three you should know how to tie your shoes!

I really like guys wearing velcro shoes, they make them so cute!:flower:

So I guess that's the same thing for drawstring pants, jeans with zippers instead of buttons, and anything that makes something 'easier'?

Velcro is just a look, as well as a convience but most of these companies are doing them for the aesthetic reason not because they think thier customer is mentally challenged.

that's even more of a reason to get velcro shoes, since everyone knows you can tie your shoes, then what's the point of showing them by wearing laces. might as well pick up those super Raf Simons velcro shoes posted by Casius, and have them on before the fool with laces next to you ^_^

Not to mention velcro makes that cool noise!!

LOL Velcro shoes make me think of old ladies. Which is funny, because I wear black puma velcros.
