Velvet F/W 05.06

I love velvet pumps....... Not my style, but I've seen them look lovely on others.

Perhaps I wouldn't give my own right arm, but I'd certainly give someone's right arm for this jacket:

I used to like Velvet, then went through a phase when I didn't like it but I am glad to see it-very pretty!

I don't like velvet because of it's rugged feel..... When you "touch" it the wrong "way", it's all ruggy and nasty.....

But I've seen last season a BEAUTIFUL velvet jacket at Club Monaco, and ever since, I've changed my mind....

love velvet. when i get mummified i want to be wrapped up in purple velvet.

Hmmm, I think I should let you shut your door and sit on the relaxing chair to read through some well known fashion magazines....about womens clothing. You could always come out of the room and let me know what you think then. I will just wait here for you...have nice time.

I don't understand?

I love velvet, as a fabric it has such a richness and luxuriousness to it. Clothes, well, blazers/jackets are classic, other then that it has to be done right to work. Velvet can easily go from tasteful and sumptuous to something all together tacky. As much as I loved the colors and the fabric itself, the BV looks had too much shine going on and I think it ruined the overall effect. Then you look at that blue Marc Jacobs dress and I think it works quite well there......

Anyway, love velvet.

Those last two Hermes dresses are perfection.
It's Gaultier! What do you expect? Less than perfection?:p

Ralph Lauren Black Label had velvet jeans... not sure of the color, they're supposed to be olive green. I would've liked them more if they were black.

I looove that Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent jacket! There was a green victorian style velvet jacket in a whole spread of velvet pieces in the new W with Kate Holmes on the cover and I really want it. It's by BCBG but I couldn't find it online anywhere.

^ I was in New York the other day and the BCBG on Madsion Avenue has that blazer in brown on a mannequin on the first floor. Normally I'm not a fan of the short-sleeved velvet blazer (when do you wear it?? velvet=fall, but fall=cold, and short sleeve doesn't go with cold?), but the details on this one are very nice (nicer than the short-sleeved velvet blazers by 12th street this year and last year, imo). I just found it on Nordstrom's, but I bet it'll sell out pretty quickly...it's only $198, which seems like a good deal to me for its quality...

Amen to that completely. I adore velvet and although I have seen it done pretty awfully in some places, a good velvet piece is just amazing.

Hmm... I've never considered velvet to be trendy. Crushed velvet, yes, but not regular velvet. I've been wearing my velvet blazer for over a decade! I suppose the colored velvet is very trendy, though...

Well, anyway, count me in on the resurgence :woot: And, I'm very glad b/c mine is in desperate need of replacement

yay! you mean my velvet stuff is back in?

Wait...I don't care if it's "in" or not I'm gonna wear it anyway

I love velvet in the darker nuances  Especially purple, blue and green.
