She is iconic to me--and was she not an aviatrix?! I've heard many rumors that she was schizophrenic, and she was certainly arrested for public intoxication--one of the pitfalls of her alcoholism. Tragic life, actually... She and Portia de Rossi share an uncanny resemblance, as an afterthought...

I've never heard she was an aviatrix. I think she was schizophrenic. I read her autobiography a long time ago and don't think she said anything about it.
