Versace F/W 2025.26 Milan

I keep forgetting about Versace. It's been a minute since the brand has something great out for the show. Even red carpet clothes are basic.

I do not know the names of most of the new models as I don't care, many have bad walks, and most will be gone in a season so I was like « Who is this Libby Bennett ? Will I be able to tell her apart from the other current bad walkers ? » .... well .... I immediately knew Libby Bennett let's say lol. But to be honest, seeing someone at least trying to give SOMETHING was refreshing. Just wish that walk was more natural.

With that said, awful and disappointing collection. The base ideas are there, but the execution and presentation are atrocious. The duvet dresses would have been great if designed differently. The ending dresses too.

The reason Versace looks weird to a lot of us is maybe because the label really used to have a maturity to it. It was for the woman or man that was secure and confident in themselves and body, not awkward teenagers. Pulling from the archives to reinterpret for the teenagers is always going to look weird because that's not what the brand and time was about.

The ugliest collection of the New Era in Versace. The dresses looked like blankets wrapped around someone’s body, not a sexy element in sight and the show was so dark and gloomy. The models were absolutely terrible even some of the veterans and the piece of clothing I enjoyed were the black dresses

If they want buzz around the brand regardless political affiliation, just invite Blake Lively to the show or put her in a Versace ad LAMO

Blake Lively Wore Versace to The New York Premiere Of ‘It Ends With Us’
and this dress from 2002 is better than anything on that catwalk

That dress was Versace?! I remember the whole outrage it caused.

At first I was wondering what a « Versace ad LAMO » meant, but then I got it 😂 lamo = lmao. I'm slow sometimes.

Didn't Britney wear this dress ?

Isn’t Blake Lively under some controversy right now? It wouldn’t be a good choice.
Yes: she accused her co-star of sexual assaults and harassment but he came back with receipts (footages where she’s weirder than him) so they are flying nasty sh*ts at each other back and forth. All that for a very mid movie.
So yeah she’ll do some buzz.

I'm going to be the devil Donatella's advocate. :brows:

The collection was not bad at ALL. Donatella simply summoned various codes of the house, big emphasis on the early 90s stuff. I mean everything iconic Versace is here, I don't need to teach anyone of it. A bit of her fave Vacarello is present too. Lol But what she is proposing here is essencialy statement, a certain power dressing that both invites the view and intimidates it. For the men and women. Its loud, flashy. And yes, Its a risky hand she's playing as current fashion could not be further from such designs.

For me the attitude is right. That IS Versace, take it or leave it. But the raiding of the archives, the prints, the literal copy and paste is getting stale. She needs new blood, new ideas in her studio. She needs a new hit that is not just a remix of the past.

Now the show was a complete mess. First of all let the libby lippy girl WALK. There are models walking like they are in a supermarket and you complain about the girl trying to give some life to the show? Anyway. Runaway choreography was a disaster. The beginning looked a finale lol the models were almost stumbling upon themselves. The collection had no structure, no sense of narrative, the final gowns felt like a non event zero impact.

Wouldve rather that! But if this is Donatella's last show, i hope the entire design team goes with her.

And I’d rather Linda wrapped in a full comforter - because let’s be real - that’s the only way she would do it these days.

I know she had hired people from balenciaga at one point for the team, one of the design directors. She does need a new team.

I imagine the brand is not doing well at all considering I received a marketing email with a discount code. Desperate.

I don't know why People started raving about Libby only after this show, her walk has always been over the top and very recognizeable, starting from the Mcqueen FW24 closing. Even her Versace SS25 walk was very confident and fierce but apparently People Did Not notice, that was 6 months ago.

Yes, those duvets are related to Versace...but to Versace Home Signature (when it was launched back in 1995). To "transform" them into clothes are really creativity reaching bottom level.

And the rest of the collection is the same archival Frankenstein she has delivered in the last years.

Well, I was totally wrong about that one! Thank you for educating me about this. Even without knowing the bedsheets were a part of Versace heritage, I agree with your assessment that the bedsheet dresses are trite
