According to Vogue, Elie Saab helped with the collection and they're friends.
But the real surprise is the big play Gvasalia made with evening wear. Gvasalia enlisted his friend, Elie Saab, to achieve the sequined mermaid dresses, and the Vetements designer just might follow the Lebanese couturier into the bridal business. He reports that he’s been fielding calls from high profile friends of the brand for wedding dresses.

The more formal looks aren’t bad. ...Not exactly exciting either, but trash the annoying gimmick-factor (that face cover alone is deserving of permanent-ban from fashiondom), and the gowns and matching coats are really solid modern classics— and they look well-constructed. Unfortunate that the normcore fillers that are so annoying, looking like those super-obese people that have lost 600lbs and left with a saggy skin suit.

Aren't these gowns a conflict of interest? I'd assume it's okay to bring Vetements into Balenciaga but not the other way around (taking out resources/techniques/etc)..?

Anyway this feels very passé.. you certainly get the feeling, as usual, that they think they're delivering some Ege Bamyasi-level of experimentalism lol, but as usual too, you actually get Avril Lavigne's 'what if I wear this huge wedding dress.. BUT WITH SNEAKERS! I'm such a punk, I can't help it..'. 'You have all these street clothes, and in the between the two tracksuits *gasp*.. an evening dress with jewels and sequins!'.

A good portion is like Richard Quinn without the obnoxious florals. Pretty hackneyed collection at the end of the day, even down to the Slenderman-chic face coverings (which need to go away for a long bloody time).

A great thing about The Fashion Spot??? My username is Margielamike2004. The year 2004...is the year I joined this website...19 years ago. I'm 51 years old...born in 1971. After so many years of being on here....and reading many of the posts I've made in the distant past.....I've come to realize how much I've matured since then...and how much my taste is clothes have changed. M Margiela is and was a great reference to use by others in regards to this collection. I'll admit that MMM's oversized collections looked a bit sloppy and slovenly...but within those collections...there seemed to be more intelligence...and a stronger point of view than this collection by Vestements. Everything seen here by Vestements seems obsurd...completely ridiculous...and way too bizarre. It's hard for me to take anything from this collection, seriously. After they made and presented this collection...I wonder if they stepped back and stopped to think that they made and presented a collection that people would actually desire... or even want to wear?? Other than everything in this collection being gigantic and oversized...what is their point of view?? Best of luck to anybody... who tries to actually walk and move.. while wearing any of this. LOL

To be honest, the first red dress and the white coat (inspired by the Chanel jacket) looks good, but this brand is a total waste that needs to be stopped

2004 seemed a long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away… Even 2014 seemed a gorgeous fevered dream, when high fashion still meant something more than just a display of merch. We’re in very different— and such disposable, excessive times nowadays that's the real-life fashion equivalent of Bizarro World. Who’d have thought that the once covered face first shown at Gaultier and then Margiela that both possessed a slyly sinister and still seductive Man Rayish allure, has now become so stale a gimmick in 2023. And that’s what high fashion in general has become: A stale gimmick banking on the commoners’ ignorance of fashion’s great past, for swiping right then instantly forgotten and on to the next hustling of merch. None of this silliness were ever designed to be worn by anyone; just overblown cartoon imageries produced for content to be gawked at on everyone’s iPhone and to sell their hoodies and tees (because what else does this label actually sell???). This label is just symptomatic and a spawn of the times.

(The days of stunning, inventive visionary design, progressive construction, and innovative materials, all presented in such fresh presentations that burn inspiration and aspiration in the mind are a distant dram of a memory. Nothing is designed nor produced to leave any lasting impression anymore. Just swipe right.)
