Viktor & Rolf for H&M

softgrey said:
i guess you all MISSED the fact that viktor and rolf have already DONE this for la redoute....

...

so it is acutally quite a natural choice...
not unexpected at all....
if anything...not very original, since la redoute did it first...
i have a sweater from the V&R for la redoute collection...

the stuff was -
black tuxedo pant(which karl also did)
a white shirt (which karl also did)
a grey or ivory puff slv t-nk swtr- which i have
a tux jkt-which karl also did
a blk silk shirt dress-which was actually quite nice
they also did boots- which i bought and returned cause they were awful
and grey flannel trousers-see above...

so i think i sort of can guess what the h&m collection will look like...
i only hope they use a bit more imagination this time...
either way- should be interesting....

*i've known this for a little while and am so glad to finally be able to talk about it!!!...
:D

the first thing i thought was ...
SO-are they BOTH going to be in the ads???????
that is probably what i am most curious about right now...
:p

well- they ARE both in the ads...
and all of the above things i mentioned are basically in the h&m line...with slight variations on the theme...

quite predictable actually...

^_^

btw- i don't know if it's been mentioned...
but ines and vinoodh shot the campaign....

:woot:...

the l.a. h&m is opening in october i believe and ive seen huge billboard on the roosevelt hotel on hollywood blvd promoting it and her collection. so it makes me wonder if victor & rolf will be even available in l.a. (pasadena) since they are promoting the madonna thing so big. maybe they think la folks wont like it and madonna is a bigger icon here. sux for them....cause i dont know about the madonna track suits so much. im glad im going back to finland so i get to see what v&r has to offer ;)

I'm sure V&R will be in LA
They are using Madonna for everything because she is a huge star, why use a relatively small designer instead of a super famous icon?

I've read things recently that the Madonna ads have NOTHING at all to do with the V&R designs.

But merely to promote Madonna's tour, and the fact that her crew are in H&M.

Hi there, do you have any idea about the exact release date of the collection? I need to set my schedule. :)

i know they dont but i just meant that the madonna collection (which isnt that great) is much more hyped here in the u.s. than the v&r.. which i think is the opposite in europe...so im wondering if they are gonna even sell in places like l.a. where no one even knows who they are. and even if they do, i dont think too many people are gonna be in line for those..

^I think it's also simply a matter of timing, madonna is hyped now because it's in stores now, the viktor and rolf collection isn't until november...nonetheless it will be interesting to see the marketing strategy for this collection when the time comes...

Its not a Madonna collection though. They are basically just the models.

I see what you are saying though...............it is MUCH more hyped here. Could be also because her tour is going on right now.

and the V&R collection has yet to hit the stores.

i think its going to be just as hyped as the stella collection. and the resellers going to be out in full force...

yeah there is a huge billboard on the roosevelt hotel wall in l.a. its so hyped, maybe also because h&m is finally arriving to southern cali. like i said before people havent really even heard of v&r over here (im in s cali now) so i dont know if there is as much demand. only some selected people will go after it, others might find it expensive and weird. and then of course there are those people who just buy it cause they have heard the name without even knowing who these guys really are and no matter if it even fits their personal style. you know what i mean? i will only buy pieces if i really like them, not just for the name sake.. but in finland where im from, v&r are hyped in all the magazines etc. so im guessing europe will be busy in november :)

Yes, it is in the latest edition of Dutch Elle magazine. I remember seeing the following:

men:
- black tuxedo
- grey tuxedo shirt, pleated at the front
- silk scarf with V&R logo

women:
- beige trenchcoat with heart shaped buckle
- black wool skirt
- black short puff sleeved top with see-through hearts at the top
- white long sleeved shirt with a pleated heart at the front
- white see through short sleeved victorian shirt with a pleated heart at the front
- black tuxedo jacket with lace heart detail
- grey basic trousers

The prices are also mentioned, I think it's about €40-50 for the shirts, €100-120 for the trench.
There is also an interview with V&R in Elle, it says there will also be underwear, stockings and scarfs. Because the clothes will be in store at the end of the year, there will also be party dresses. The clothes have a "hearts and arrows" theme.

That's all I can remember! I don't have a scanner, so I can't post the pictures.

^ A digital photography of the dutch Elle girl pages would do as well :P
