That's wild! "Unique" on broadway also did this before.

Reminds me of a post I stumbled upon a long time ago:

Whats wrong with this picture:

I think its really cool! and everyone who says it's "unoriginal" What other Upsidown stores have you been shopping at??
maybe by unoriginal they mean cheesy. an upside down store is kind of a cheesy idea, but it does put a smile on my face.

^ Perhaps- but maybe fashion people take themselves too seriously i think. it's fun it's interesting. it is perhaps a bit "theme park" but it brings a smile to my face as well, and seems (to my mind) to really fit them

I saw a V&R show on FTV a few weeks back and all of the dresses were upside down and turned around even the logo on the back of the stage was upside down very original i enjoyed it. The shapes of the dresses were wide at the top and fitted at the bottom or some were even more clearly a dress turned upside down and worn! lol
I like the boutique to match but i cannot help but think to myself will this remain a style of V&R after this season is over?
Paul.

^ well I think it's not just based on that runway show- but rather the idea that their design is very traditional- but tradition turned on it's head- Irreverent classics?

Thanks for the warm welcome Baizilla and Avanster :flower:

I think it is amazing to see what these two are doing. Whether it be their fashion shows, boutiques or ad campaigns, they are truly unique in their own sense. It takes much, much confidence to what they are doing, and I hope that the future of the business can aspire from them. Their brand is great for the industry.

I think the idea is excellent. I probably would never even think of upsiding an entire shop, let alone going through with it.

V&R are the embodiment of 'wow'. everything they do is spectacular enough to stop me in my tracks. But it's not hollow; it leaves me thinking.

I'm not sold on the practicality, though.

When I go shopping, I like wide open spaces and well-presented clothes. I don't have the time or patience for bad-service, awkward layouts, gimmicks, etc. I'm there to try clothes on, and buy what i like - nothing more, nothing less (such a boring take on the 'experience', but I'm more into wearing the clothes and having fun in them).

So (to anyone who's been) what's it like in practice???

I agree with you harris jonathon..

On a different note, however the same topic, what are everyones thoughts on Viktor & Rolf collaborating with H&M?

I think it is great to see all of these designers (Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, etc.) stepping up and seeing fashion at the lower end. H&M's sales last quarter were up 1%. No business will ever survive if those numbers are consistent. As with all of the anticipation of the Lagerfeld for H&M launch, I think this launch will draw similar, possibly more press.

I also think it's great that these designers are prepared to make great looking clothes at high street prices.

I just don't understand why they would do this. Surely, as the high street improves, it gets progressively harder for the designers to impress with their ready-to-wear lines and, to a lesser extent, haute couture collections.

If I was designing I'm not at all sure I'd want to help the high-street chains, in fact i wouldn't help my direct competition in any industry.

How much money do the designers get? Is it to do with that?

I agree. It looks cool, but not somewhere I'd wanna shop really. It looks like it'd overwhelm me lol

That's just what i was thinking, but I couldn't think of the word. I'd spend so much time getting to grips with the shop being upside-down I'd end up not buying anything
