Vitamins / Supplements for Skin, Hair & Nails

Ahem, i don't mean to sound cheeky at all... but: don't fish oil pills make you smell fishy? That's just what i heard somewhere, and it sort of put me off trying them. But maybe it's like garlic; the more you eat of it the less you will smell of it?
It would be great to hear your feedback, because i might try them after all..
Thanks :flower:

Hmmm, I take Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids as Fish Oil, and I don't think I smell like a fish...

When I take flaxseed oil, I notice results within a week.
Vitamins E, C, A, & Beta Carotene are beneficial for gorgeous skin.
Vitamin A is apparently very beneficial in clearing skin from acne and pimples (Accutane is some derivative of A). Vitamin E is beneficial in clearing up scars or hyperpigmintation left over from acne, and has good anti-aging effects. Vitamin C is an anti-oxident and like E, flushes free radicals from your system.

I heard Zinc is the acne clearing "god mineral". It supports a healthy immune system, I guess....

If you don't like the idea of popping 10 different pills in the morning, taking a nice multi-vitamin is a good alternative.

Prenatal Vitamins

Apparently Gwyneth Paltrow takes prenatal vitamins (even after her pregnancy). She swears it keeps her hair thick and healthy. Has anyone tried this and is it safe to take these when not pregnant?

I am a total vitamin freak. Im hooked. I just dont feel right if I dont take my stash every day. I take a womens multi, extra A, B50. esther C, D, E, iron pills, Omega 369, Coenzyne Q10,and silica for skin and hair. I have nice thick hair now and my skin glows if I do say so myself. I also eat pretty good and get lots of sleep.

Iron, Zink, B and C

Unfortuently I can only take them as chewable tablets so its a real trouble finding them.
Other then that WATER WATER WATER WATER. 4-6 litres a day easy

I used to take some hair vitamins called Strong Hair..they contain biotin which is good for promoting growth in hair/nails. I took it for about a month, I think it was helping..it's just alittle expensive when you don't have a job..around $25-30 bucks for a month's supply if I remember correctly. But I have a job now so yay

flaxseed oil, evening prime rose oil and salmon oil capsules
as i heard, they are the best for skin, and the past few months weren't exactly the best days of my life which took its toll on me emotionally and physically, so i'm really considering one of these capsules or all of them if thats what it takes......
SO
for those who took any of them, or any kind of fish oils please tell me, do they make u gain weight? do u have to be on certain diet to make them work?
cause i'v had some bad experices with hair and skin multi vitamens and i'm really happy with my weight right now thanq very much.....:ermm:

I think eating the appropriate foods would probably be the best solution, they're suppose to be a lot better than taking vitamins.

And.... since I've stopped eating meat I've honestly noticed my hair, nails, and skin to be a LOT stronger and healthier.... :innocent::flower:

Oh Sandy! I didn't even see your thread about vitamins..but as for the Good Earth pills. What are they saying that they will do exactly to you hair? I don't think that it will make it grow!

Oh yea and just a MAJOR WARNING for all you pill poppers...If you take more than 2 omega-3 fatty acid capsules per day..you will start developing that fat in areas of you body that get alot of use..like I was taking them for two weeks before I noticed that my calves were starting to grow and they were really lush and soft...I didn't like it at all:angry: so I stopped taking them:innocent: I've just been trying to get more salmon in my diet instead of meat or nuts

One time I tried these pills for healthy skin, hair and nails; I think it was called Perfectil. Didn't do a thing. Could be because I was still in my teens, though. I don't think a pill made for adult women would've helped a teen much with her skin when she has loads of hormones creating armies of zits on her face.

has anybody tried holland and barrats skin hair and nails tablets?

was just wondering what they were like since i want my hair to grow and my nails could do with being abit stronger and my skin could always be abit nicer i just thought that alittle more help couldnt go amiss;)

Hair Vitamins?

Hi all
I have been trying to get my hair to grow and it's the longest it's been in years. My longest layer is probably at my mid back. I want to know what vitamins or treatments I can buy to help accelerate the growth and/or nourish my hair.
Thanks!
Mich

I already take about a million vitamins :) but just recently ive been using one thats called 'Hair, Skin and Nails'. You have to use it for a few months before you see any radical results. But the supplement i really want to try is Imedeen Radiant Complexion, the only prob is that its pretty pricey- $AUD89 for one months supply. I might just put it on my christmas list :)

GLA or gamma lineolic acid. Some women take it to help alleviate PMS. Doesn't do a thing for me that way, but it does do great things for your skin, nails and hair.

Any decent pharmacy or health food store should have it. Dosage is 3000 mg daily of evening primrose oil or 1500 mg daily of starflower or black currant oil. Keep in mind though that its not a quick fix. Results, if there is any, will take two to three months to show.

is this stuff really good? i first thought it was for middle aged women and i heard somewhere that its just a crappy thing n doesnt work..

Vitamin A and Zinc are really important for the skin. Hair and Nails need lots of protein but that is not a vitamin....
