Vitamins / Supplements for Skin, Hair & Nails

I use Skin Nutrition Science Skin Supplement and I swear by it. When I first started using it, I saw a noticible difference in the clarity of my skin. I also use thier skin serum before bed.

I get mine from Hi- Health, but I believe you can order it online.

Skin Nutrition Sciene Skin Supplement? How'd you find out about it and how does it differ than other skin vitamins- if you have taken others?

I recommend GNC Women's Ultra Mega - my hair and nails have NEVER been healthier, and grow so fast. I also take a tablespoon of flax oil every day, which is not only wonderful for your health, but also for your hair, skin and nails. I swear it erases wrinkles from the inside out~ the Omega 3s are anti-inflammitory.

i've had dark pigmentation/skin tone around my mouth (both the area and lining of my lips) that isn't horribly noticeable, but definitely detectable in pictures with flash/up close. i have heard that iron-difficiency/anemia could be related factors (which i have been tested for several times, but left undiagnosed), as well as the use of birth control (which i also used for 2.5 years).

does anyone else have this problem? i have started using bleaching creams, but it doesn't seem to be working. i have also heard of taking iron supplements as a solution.

comments? thanks :)

I think I'd book an appt with a dermatologist before I'd start self-treating.

I took them for a about 3 months, but never really noticed a difference. Cheaper stuff is just as good.
I, however, have found that taking vitamins seperately makes a greater difference. Centrum is supposed to contain biotin, but when I took it my nails were not as strong as now (I swallow one biotin capsule/day).

I take 'Skin, Hair & Nails' supplement from Holland & Barrett and it really works. Just over a year ago, I lost a lot of hair due to stress etc. and now you would never know. My nails are no longer splitting and my skin is better. I would reccommend it as its good value anyway, but especially when on special offer

For those of you who take the evening primrose oil, what brand do you use and what dosage do you take?

^ Reg. evening primrose oil: I take 2 capsules per day from the brand Efamol

I also just started taking shark cartillage capsules - they're supposed to be really good for the hair! Anyone else tried it?

I am so bummed because I went to the store after work to buy some prenatal vitamins, but they were out of the kind I wanted to try. The others were too expensive. I was so excited to try them after hearing such positive things.

I take:

- multivitamin with ginseng (basic one from boots)
- silica (silica OK, Wassen)
- fish oil (basic one from boots)

All pretty cheap as supplements go, costs less than £10 for a month's supply of the three.

The silica supplement does wonders for skin and hair -I have naturally good skin but the silica seems to make it softer, and it definitely makes my hair grow faster (mixed blessing as it makes my unwanted hair grow faster as well). I used to take a more concentrated silica supplement, but stopped because i) if you take a lot of silica you break out when you start using it, or start using if after a break, in huge angry red blotches which last for a few days. I'm happier just taking a little which don't cause the blotches and ii) I prefer just taking one tablet a day.

Drinking LOTS of water if you don't already will do you more good than any vitamin pills will, has no side effects, and will cost less as well.

Supplements For Skin and Hair

i'm thinking of going back to Evening Primrose oil for skin cos i used to take it 2 years ago and my skin was really good then.now it's quite crappy.
