What are some vitamins that are good for your skin? How do you get that flawless glow that models have!? :p

Warm (spring) water with fresh organic lemon
A natural source multi-mineral vitamin
Raw fruits and veggies, organic where possible
Raw walnuts and almonds
And the occasional sticky cum facial never hurt
Good luck!

I still believe in Vitamin C. Especially the Ester C version. Plus I use a retinol treatment day and night. In the day I use a Sunblock of 25, and night night it's just the retinol. I have to rotate products so I go back and forth between Lauders Diminish, Roc's retinol, and even one from alpha hydrox. I'm 40 years old now, and it is my picture here. I think it's done wonders for me. I've been doing skin care on myself since I was 12 years old.

I agree---Vitamin C is wonderful and so are Fish Oil pills and Zinc pills. Fish Oil will keep you skin plump and smooth--over time, and 50mg of Zinc will keep your skin clear. Horsetail is an herb that will strengthen your skin as well (and actually help your hair grow). Viatamin A will help with skin renewal too. of course getting these vitamins and minerals in their natural source, i.e. thru food comsumption, is best. But, supplements are great too.

Thank you for adding this to the conversation. I will definitely add these to my skin care regimen.

Retinol thins your skin over time, so you shouldnt use it daily. Reduce to every other day, and only at night. It's not something you should use in the AM, especially if you dont reapply sunscreen. African-American skin does have more melanin in it, obviously, but can still burn! So be a bit less generous with the Retinol.

thank you for telling me about Retinol. I really appreciate it. I'm very big on sunscreen. I tell people all the time about all skins burn. Especially black skin as well. It just takes a bit longer. I'm not a sun person, and never have been. I will cut the retinol to only night.

I take vitamin A capsules and they've been making my skin and hair look really great. Vitamin C is also really good, I've heard.

like, i had a real bad pimple infection (still kind of do right now) on my cheek area, by taking these vitamins and minerals do you think they will disappear? i've visited the dermatologist, and i don't have many pimples now, but there's a lot of red scars and a few bumps here and there. i really want it to be gone :) hahah

^^You're welcome tboy34!.... I really believe that vitamins work!! More people should pay attention to the benefits!!

fengstah: IMO, vitamin A and E will help. Take the Vitamin A internally, and rub the Vitamin E n the red mark. Zinc is an anti-inflamatory, so it will help to prevent those cyst-like pimples in the future. But, honestly, for those post-pimple red marks , time is the best remedy. I promise, they will fade! key is preventing more of those kind of pimples that cause the marks.

I think the combination of vitamins A+E is good, here we have 2 in 1 capsules called aevit, I started taking it recently and I like it

do you mean squeezing the vitamin E from the capsule and putting it on the skin? how often is it supposed to be done, twice or once a day?

^ i didn't notice any difference when I applied it. I guess it really depends on people. It will disappear with time.

yup, open up the vutamin E capsule and apply it directly to the mark...but i totally agree with the above post...time will fade those red marks eventually. Vitamin E helps for me though

oh, and just once a day is all you need for the vitamin E...sorry for double post!!!

I think people/models usually have great skin because they eat healthy and get their vitamins from foods in which the vitamens occur naturally in.
When I go through phases were I am less stressed and eat better my skin is always way nicer.

Taking supplements just isn't the same....

One misconception is that the more Vitamins one takes the better. But by taking supplements you can overdose on vitamins and have serious symptoms.

omega 3 all the way, zinc, vitamin E & lots of vitamin c fruits.using minimal products and these keep my skin glowing :)..& nothing beats the beach for making skin look mighty fine~ salt water, sand & sun but def def with 30+ all over :D

So what would be considered a vitamin overdose? I hardly eat veggies at all and I know I never get the right essentials. And I really want to start taking vitamins.

I'm interested in trying Zinc once I come off my anti-biotics (I can't take the 2 at the same time), do you take just one a day?
