The red cross painted across his face has already been done by Fabien on Madonna for Interview in 2010. But my God, Charlie looks so good for the cover it works for me.

Not so much Tim's photography. I understand people like his ideas-- and they're not bad here, to be frank. Just the usual flatness and dullness of the lighting comes off like a cheap weekly flyer shoot for a department-store that brings everything down for me.

Looks like a predictable, but solid issue.

The newsstand issue's masthead will likely be embossed. I think this is just the digital cover and for some reason, they want to give the impression of an embossed effect. so they pulled out the cheese for it.

I think he's promoting his King Arthur movie? the whole styling gives a medieval and templar vibe imo.

^^^ Oh yeah, definitely very knightly with Tim's concept. Just the typical white seamless with a few set props-- all comes across very community theatre budget to me, visually.

Charlie is pure living and heaving sex, and someone like Steven Klein would have brought a strong and highly-stylized narrative that would have been a better fit for the concept. Or someone like Lindberg would have taken that smoldering, romantic concept to great effects, I think. But here, he looks so Ivory Soap fresh and clean.

I've never really got Charlie's appeal before, but he does look very sexy here.
And I LOVE Bruce's editorial.
