VMan #45 Winter 2020/Spring 2021 : Shawn Mendes by Ben Hassett

This doesn't look good.

not only is this photoshoot very basic and boring (and could be for the entertainment section of some higher-up newspapers) but then the magazine cover is in the bottom 3 worst photos from it as well, together with the close up shots which make shawn look 35. The rest is boring but at least it doesn't look ridiculous.

here's the entire spread (and interview.. by Elton John)

ben is so hit or miss

tight beauty shots are when he is at his best... this is a mess and so his shawn's hair

the cover is a little meh and I do agree that he needs a different hairstyle. the editorial on the other has some very nice shots abs I love that it’s all black and white.

now they are producing more than 2 issues of V Man per year? Instead of it they should improve their content to make only 2 good issues as they did in the begining.

Yeah, they tried more than 2 issues a year and it was lacking in content.

I will always have a crush on Shawn, though I wish he got the cover before his long hair phase...

Shawn Mendes would be so much more appealing without the beard.

I really want to like it because of Ben, who doesn't shoot nearly enough covers despite doing stellar work. But can't, sorry.
Shawn looks like one of the two non-conforming guys that everyone is gaga about, is it Cody or Ezra? Never can tell the difference between the two. Anyway, he's probably trying to look grown-up. Can't blame him for that. The Taylor Lautner look was so outdated anyway. But this isn't it. Makes him look a solid 35.

Second cover is neither here nor there. especially not with that masthead.

I don't know any of these models except James Turlington, and that's only because of his surname. They are not the real in-demand male models who are booking campaigns, editorials and runways shows, the ones who are actually driving the industry. Braien, Ottawa, Malick, Kohei and so forth. Let's face it, these guys are probably the type who would have 'lunch' with Klein on his ranch, and you can take that whichever way you wish.

Klein has lost it. The actual images look so budget, like something you'd see in ADON magazine. Even Attitude can do better than this.

Supermodel or not, these were effective
