Vogue Australia December 2008 : Lily Donaldson

God what a terrible issue.

A reprint cover and a really boring editorial so far.

RUSSH is ten times better and more relevant than Vogue.

"My apologies if i've touched a sensitive spot, debates over the state of Vogue always seem to get abit touchy. "

No worries I was just confused as you seemed to be saying that Vogue Aus had bad casting and that Russh , Yen and frankie had better... i was just pointing out that all these mags have used this model frequently...
no hard feelings... everyone's entitled to their opinion.:flower::flower::flower:

I like A light touch. It's simple, straightforward and the colour scheme is very nice. Thanks for the scans, Eshe, I've already given you karma. Now, I'd love to see Carmen Kass's ed!

I think it is a repost and the original can be seen in her thread.

Pity that Carmen's ed is a repost! I've searched her thread and couldn't find anything.

i want this. but the most recent issue of vogue aus ive seen around here is sept.

thanks for the scans!

i must say, Vogue Australia is serially bad at picking the "it" models. The girls they choose to push as the "next big thing"- i recall previously Hannah Fell, Nicole Trunfio, even Cheyenne Tozzi, all end up being nobodies.

the girls they ignore like Catherine McNeil, Abbey Lee (who had pretty much not had appearances prior to making it overseas) end up doing really well.

as for Zippora- isn't she only like 5'7? I predict another failed attempt for Vogue Australia to be "zietgeist".

to be positive, i think the eds are improving... but the team still needs to pick up their game. Grazia is (imo) doing better to be fresh and new, even Harpers Bazaar is coming up with better stories and spreads.

anyway, i maintain hope that Vogue Australia picks up. In the meantime, i think that Russh, Yen and Frankie are doing far superior jobs. Russh especially.
I definitely see what you mean - it's kinda cute though (yes, I'm meant to be patronising) that they try to cultivate certain models as theirs but it just ends up falling flat.

Jessica Hart is pretty much in every issue for one! I never see her anywhere else other than Australian Vogue.

And Nicole Trunfio - she did have her moments admittedly, but other than that she really hasn't done much.

At one point I believe they were pushing Candice Lake too (I think that's her name) but I haven't seen her anywhere since her Vogue Australia heyday.

I thought Candice did alright overseas though?
Also Sarah Stephan's was a little pets of there but she left pretty soon and now she isn't doing well as expected overseas.
It must be a jinx to become a favorite of theirs.

Good Lord, Carmen's ed is from Vogue Nippon?!?! Now, they're doing reprints from Vogue Nippon?!?!? Well, I can't complain because I've seen reprints from probably all Vogues in the world in Vogue Portugal and that really drives me mad. Believe me, Vogue Portugal is a lot worse than Vogue Australia when it comes to reprints!

I think she had one or two alright seasons but nothing as much as they hyped her up to me.

I'm just so bemused that they continue to push Jessica Hart and - the only thing I can recall her doing is be in the pages of Vogue Australia, win Dolly Magazine's modelling competition what seems almost 10 years ago, and be a Guess girl. Seriously she's in Vogue Australia like every month!

Maybe sarah's being cast for VS is part of the jinx...

I would call it a jinx, compare her to the rest of the VS models and if i were her i would feel a tad below their level. Also by her doing VS it isn't really helping her High Fashion appeal.

her current eds in Vogue Italia, 10 mag, and her French Revue covers are also part of this jinx...
