Vogue Australia February 2014 : Cate Blanchett by Steven Chee

I agree its a little over photoshopped on the cover but I still like it, she looks bada** in that suit.

Why so much photoshop? Hopefully part of it is from the scan and the digital one will be better

very us vogue

First thing I thought too.

She looks like a rich, bland, socialite who buys the best designer clothes but has no creative flair for dressing.

Maybe they were thinking of her character from Blue Jasmine?

Either way, blergh.

Last month Jessica Hart looked like a ghoulish water creature, now they make Cate Blanchett look ordinary? Very disappointing run of covers. What's happened to the creative flair that Vogue Aus USED to have, cover-wise anyway?

The editorials haven't been too bad at least.

And btw Vogue Aus, I don't want to 'Dress like a Parisian'.....I want to dress like an Australian! An Australian who lives in the f***ing tropics! Dressing like a Parisian here is just plain dumb! And I'm so sick of the whole worship of Parisian dressing. We Aussies actually dress pretty damn well. It's called being independent and creative! Grrrrr! END RANT

^ Wow.

Well by logic, most Australians would know how to dress 'Australian'. Plus, how about those Australians who want to dress up as a Parisian? Or a Parisian during winter?

I think they know Australians do dress well because this team is such a champion of Australian fashion. It's just rather presenting an alternative to those who want to dress Parisian chic, British cool, Downtown New Yorker etc.

The masthead and 'From desk to dinner' line is in foil.

Maybe the article wouldn't annoy me so much during Autumn or Winter. But my city has just endured the worst heatwave, so an article about European dressing in the Feb issue just seems really irrelevant.

And I really am so over books, articles, cooing over French style. It's just perpetuating the myth of French chic, a myth that (it seems) French women are pressured to conform to as well. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/fashion/features/do-we-really-want-to-be-french-9042540.html 'As yet another book lauds women across the Channel, Gillian Orr looks at the truth behind Madame Parfaite: extreme dieting and fear of a pressured, fattist society.'

I suppose I really should withhold judgement until I read the article, I guess. :)

this would have been nice and fresh but what the hell did they do to her face

I've been staring at the cover for a bit longer, and Cate does look quite elegant. It's always nice to see a real woman (i.e not a teenager or 20-something model) over the age of 40 on the cover.

Still don't like how US Vogue it feels.

Apologies about the flash!
Cate doesn't look too bad but she does appear a little...sunburnt?

Drake's editorial is beautiful though I wish it wasn't all black and white but I think it evokes a sense of nostalgia with an all BW editorial.
