Vogue China September 2017 : Double Act by Collier Schorr & Patrick Demarchelier

The Feifei and Anna cover is quite boring. Pretty disappointed with how they both look.

Really like the second cover though. Bella and especially Chu look great. :cool2:

I think its a bit gimmicky to have 1 asian and 1 caucasian girl per cover. And I would much rather preferred to have just seen Fei Fei & Chu Wong together. The caucasian girls already get enough vogue covers and attention.

Number of vogue covers Anna Ewers has had this year - 7 covers
Number of vogue covers Bella Hadid has had this year - 2 (besides vogue covers 12)
Number of vogue covers Fei Fei has had this year - 1 (besides vogue covers 0)
And its Chu Wong's first cover.

Caucasian girls always have the most opportunity. Why not just give the September issue the most important issue of the year to two chinese models. Whats the need to bring to white models to pose along with them, its unnecessary and patronising.

I did a quick edit of how the cover would look like more a less if it was just them both. and honestly I think it would be more major. Fei Fei Sun an established girl together with a rising star Chu Wong (she's just been around since S/S 2016.)

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Bella's had it so easy as a rich white woman in the industry while girls like Fei Fei and Liu have had to work so hard and are 100 times more talented.

Could Anna be any more boring in that edit?!

Could that editorial be more any more boring in general? Hello catalog.

Ugh, when will magazines learn that they must only use models that correspond with the majority readers' race of said magazine? So annoying!

I like both covers. They're nothing special but they're fine.

They should have just went with FeiFei because Anna really was not feeling this editorial at all lol... she looks either mad or bored but consistently uninterested. FeiFei looks nice in most of her shots though...

Same face from Anna again. You could copy and paste her face on another editorial of hers and we wouldn't notice the difference tbh.

I don't know, I feel like of all the Asian editions (and that includes Vogue India) Vogue China is actually the one with the best balance between native and Western faces. For the past decade they've always had 5/6 Chinese covergirls in one calendar year. And they're also the quickest of all Vogues to give their own models their debut cover.
So under these circumstances, I would say Angelica is doing ok. She's shaping Chinese fashion icons (Du Juan, Liu Wen, Sun Fei Fei, Ju Xiao Wen), and making way for new ones while keeping her finger on the international pulse with Bella.

My only problem with the magazine is Daniela Paudice!

Yawn...Anna looks bored and lifeless, again. Maybe time for an extended vacay? And for a young woman, Bella looks very 'madame' here. Fei Fei and Chu would have sufficed nicely.

dead.

I find it's a bit odd to me. Seeing these editorials

Throughout the edit, actually! It was probably intentional. I like the last shot with the sheer dresses better as a cover.

Collier Schorr shaping up to be a solid Elle photographer

Agree with the comment above. Catalogue level. Very uninspired

boring and weak.

^ That review does sound weak, also only 364 pages? Wow!

Thanks so much for the review though.

This looks interesting, not someone I'd have associated with Vogue.

Review sounds so-so to me, but thanks for posting, MDNA! :flower:
