Vogue España January 2019 : Africa Peñalver by Camila Falquez

"Todas las mujeres que hay en mi" and "Entre ellas" are very beautiful!

On the rare occasions that Spanish Vogue celebrate a native model, they really go at it hard. Africa is a beautiful girl, but I find her very bland-looking. Like the average type of beauty which you'll encounter in Spain or Argentina. It's only when you load on the crazy, then she'll start to look remotely interesting and unique. But I like that they've selected so.many native artists for this issue. I can see a local picking this up and at the very least be satisfied with all the familiar names and faces, as opposed to more Hollywood celebs.

I'm in total agreement with @A.D.C. ..... so many edits, but very few of them hit the mark. Hiandra's edit reminds me of Beyonce's last Vogue cover, but the styling looks ok. She's not the strongest model for an OG edit by the looks of it. The rest are all too indie, hipster for my taste and all sort of blur into beige.

I've often wondered how it is that they gave such a big budget, but I guess it's because they distribute across South America as well.

Overall, very underwhelming start to the year.

Serving Miss Vogue outtakes, yet again, for most of this issue, an average celebrity edit and an awful layout...by now Vogue México has surpassed them.

Also...What are they waiting to give Rosalía the cover? Most talked about spaniard of 2018, without a doubt; unanimous praise by leading publications the world round and a fashion sensation yet all she got was an edit on the september issue, are they sleeping?

At least they showed Bad Gyal some love...

Edit: When did this magazine became so hipster-ish? Last time I checked they were still terribly bourguie. I'd give them praise for being up to date and becoming just as mediocre as the rest but that's not my style.

It didn't become hipster-ish. This issue is different because all (or almost all) talent is Spanish. Lots of new photographers.

I actually like many of these. The main editorial is beautiful, it's Camila Falquez signature work throughout. «Entre Ellas» is also good. It's a genuine take on the minimalist "try-hard-indie" Vogues, the ones that everyone seem to worship nowadays, so I really don't understand the general hate. «En Alas De La Realidad» is very candid, very old-school Vogue Italia. Everything else is forgettable and something I would expect from Vogue Ukraine.
