Vogue France June/July 2024 : Gigi Hadid by Bardia Zeinali

Wrong in every possible way. I'm exasperated just at the sight of the background not being straight. Where's the effort here, honestly? There's zero creativity. The font, the layout, the pose, the composition, the trophy on the ground??! It's a shame because gymnastics is such a beautiful sport to photograph. I'm sorry nothing works here.

She has got progressively weaker over time as a model. I honestly think that in 2024 that Kendall Jenner gives more in photoshoots. She just has zero presence these days even in the physical shoots that she at one point excelled in compared to the other social media models.

That little trophy on that blue line steals the show for me, beautiful reflection.

The rest of the cover is sadly terrible, even for Vogue France's standards. The font that reads Vogue World looks like a joke and why does it look like a screenshot of a YouTube video? Surely intentional, but to me the cover looks very unfinished and improper for a celebratory issue. The theme of the Olympics gave them so many opportunities. It doesn't help seeing the covers from Carine's days being posted...I'm bummed out.

Honestly, this is extremely upsetting, in fact, the more I look at it, the more furious I get
I can honestly do without Gigi the rest of my life, or please go away this year at least
When she is done, then her sister will return, this endless cycle is extremely pathetic and sad

Why don’t they put a French model on the cover ? Outrageous…

my thoughts as well. y'all couldn't find not one athletic french model to put on the cover to promote and celebrate the olympics? not one?? y'all settled for this tragic mess??? lazy and shameful doesn't even properly describe this.

and its a still from a video? lmaooo how low can the standards go because we've already breached the mantle. are we now in the molten layer? smh

olympics in france, a french model woulda made sense-- i guess gigi is above the status of 'model' tho..

i wonder why they were left with a screen capture of a video, surely that was not the plan? what is going on with french vogue british vogue etc. it makes ZERO sense for vogue to have reprints and shared content, what is the goal there?? the cost to produce a few fashion shoots surely could be covered by advertising and if not jeez just shutter the magazine..

To be honest I kind of like it, it feels very now... Don't know if that's a good thing but it goes with the spirit of today. Feel the styling i'ts very New York from 2000's Carrie Bradshow. But I do agree i'ts not breath taking...

My library's digital copy is showing 204 pages.

I'm glad French Vogue isn't sold anywhere near me, imagine having to look at that shambolic excuse of a cover for two months. Instead of promoting the Olympics, it's more like a PR campaign to put people off sport.

There's a full-page correction for the error in the previous issue where Steven Klein got the credit for Steven Meisel's work, it's quite a grovelling apology to the latter. Magazines make mistakes - usually minor ones - but that has to be one of the worst I've seen for years.

The issue is full of athleisure looks, until French Vogue decides to talk at length about surfing, opening with an old Mikael Jansson reprint of Gisele on the beach, reminding you of what summer used to be like, on the pages of Paris Vogue (I believe these images to be from the Jun-Jul 2019 issue).

There's also a jewellery edit with the pieces sitting on sports equipment, a reprint of a feature about Victoria Beckham x Mango, and Miss Vogue is layered swimwear, shot by Nadine Ijewere, with models Akon and Nyakong.

The main editorial section:

- Opens with the cover story, "Go Gigi", which I've already seen in Spanish Vogue;
- There's a reprint of the article about Anne Hidalgo, the Mayor of Paris;
- There's an interview with Thomas Jolly, with images shot by Annie Leibowitz, which looks like it could come from US Vogue;
- There's a reprint of the Spanish Vogue cover story with Jill Kortleve and Rosalieke;
- And another accessories edit.

Another issue I'm happy to miss.

Thank you for the review. Is there an unpublished full-page Anna Ewers photograph by Alasdair McLellan from the November 2018 issue? A photograph of a model in a field.
