Vogue France June/July 2024 : Gigi Hadid by Bardia Zeinali

Let me look back through for any images of Anna... on page 137, there's a model standing in a field, but this series of images is credited as Abby Champion, shot by Dan Martensen. No sign of Anna.

As for new ads, it's the same as most summer issues, there aren't many actual fashion campaigns, it's more accessories, beauty, perfume etc.

The first ad is 2 pgs Lulu Tenney for Chanel Métiers d'art, followed by 2 pgs Dior, 2 pgs Vuitton (Capucines bag on a yacht) then we're into the watches and jewellery. Just before the main editorial section, theres 2 pgs Balenciaga with Nicole Kidman and Amelia G. Back page is Dua Lipa for YSL, the same shot you've seen a hundred times already.

That Chanel Métiers d'art campaign might appear widely in this month's magazines - the July 24 issue of Tatler had Chanel as an inside front cover gatefold ad.

Thank you! Greatly appreciated. I saw small thumbnails of the issue and that image of a model standing in a field took me right back to that McLellan fashion editorial with Ewers from November 2018.

My library's digital copy is showing 204 pages.

I'm glad French Vogue isn't sold anywhere near me, imagine having to look at that shambolic excuse of a cover for two months. Instead of promoting the Olympics, it's more like a PR campaign to put people off sport.

There's a full-page correction for the error in the previous issue where Steven Klein got the credit for Steven Meisel's work, it's quite a grovelling apology to the latter. Magazines make mistakes - usually minor ones - but that has to be one of the worst I've seen for years.

The issue is full of athleisure looks, until French Vogue decides to talk at length about surfing, opening with an old Mikael Jansson reprint of Gisele on the beach, reminding you of what summer used to be like, on the pages of Paris Vogue (I believe these images to be from the Jun-Jul 2019 issue).

There's also a jewellery edit with the pieces sitting on sports equipment, a reprint of a feature about Victoria Beckham x Mango, and Miss Vogue is layered swimwear, shot by Nadine Ijewere, with models Akon and Nyakong.

The main editorial section:

- Opens with the cover story, "Go Gigi", which I've already seen in Spanish Vogue;
- There's a reprint of the article about Anne Hidalgo, the Mayor of Paris;
- There's an interview with Thomas Jolly, with images shot by Annie Leibowitz, which looks like it could come from US Vogue;
- There's a reprint of the Spanish Vogue cover story with Jill Kortleve and Rosalieke;
- And another accessories edit.

Another issue I'm happy to miss.
The most interesting thing about this issue seems to be the full page apology to Steven Meisel :rofl:

I have never, ever in all my years seen such a mistake in a major publication. When you think of all the eyes that must have been on it, from the fact-checker and copy editor to the photo editor to Eugénie Trochu -- it is really extraordinary that this happened.

I thought it was a throwback issue when I saw it on IG.

It's a reprint of one of the Debicki images with a brief statement below.

It's not that exciting, but magazines usually hide these corrections in the corner of some page that never gets read. So printing the apology as a full page immediately following the contents means that everyone is now aware the error happened, even the readers who had no idea.

You wouldn't bring it to everyone's attention unless you had to, as part of the scale of your apology. There are probably countless photographers who'd get a one-line "we regret we did this", but Meisel gets one that can't be missed.

TO OUR READERS
Due to a printing error, Vogue France mis-credited the photographer for the fashion series “Le Metet ses Phantoms” in its latest May 2024 issue. The images were taken by photographer Steven Meisel and not by Steven Klein. We offer our most sincere apologies to both photographers. Our omission in no way reflects the immense respect we have for their work and for the long-lasting relationship they have with Vogue. And we would like to extend a special apology to Mr. Steven Meisel who produced such brilliant photographs for this issue and who deserves proper credit for them.

The colouring and lighting of these edits feel so Russian/Soviet to me for some reason. Like some strange art-house underground Communist manifesto kind of lighting. Not that I think there's anything wrong with it, but it just makes it look even less Vogue France (and even more removed from Vogue Paris).

Gigi isn't convincing at all. And why did they feel the need to insert Olivier and his overzealous pout in the video?

From the lighting to the colors, love everything about the fashion editorial "La Marque Du Maillot" by Ijewere. It is beautiful in every way. The reason I will pick the issue up.

The ed with Gigi is not bad at all, but that cover is inexcusable.
The promo photo with Gigi at Place Vendome circles around Vogue editions for months now, and the design/fonts are so embarassing.

The ed with African models is amazing. That second photograph would make a great cover.

Go (home) Gigi! My god, what a joke of a magazine.

If they had pulled Gigi's hair back into a ponytail, it would have improved everything by 1000%.
