Vogue Hommes International Fall/Winter 08.09 : Hugh Dancy by Mario Testino

Horrible cover. Looks very gay-ish and might be seen as offensive to many heterosexual men. More so the cover might cause embarrassing impressions if seen laying on your livingroom table.
well in that case rather do not buy any fashion magazines, and what if somebody saw you browsing tFS? So gay, SO EMBARRASSING! do not do it!

maybe im biased but this cover looks perfectly heterosexual for me, if you mind the underwear and that pose and the hunky man lacking some specific clothes, then go with Men's Vogue, or rather National Geographic.

maybe i understood it wrong, i thought what PeaceAndPout didn't get was homeboy's point...? anyway, by "me neither" i mean i don't get the whole gay-ish, embarassing/offencive thing...

I don't think that what homeboy said is that offensive so i don't get why some jump on him. If i get his point, he seems to think that the cover will not "encourage" some straight guys to buy it. I wouldn't have used the word "offensive" to them but you know how straight guys and their "pride" are...

Why should Mario Testino have to make narrow minded and insecure people feel comfortable? Why do we need to mention such people? Do we have to let their prejudices control artist's work and what we purchase?! That's why I find the earlier comment offensive.

Straight guys are not a single group of gay hating insecure morons. As we've already read, even some gay people will not have the confidence to buy this magazine because a man is not fully clothed on the cover.

I encourage you to stop thinking in terms of different 'groups' which share identical views. Just think about what YOU like and stop caring about how other people will view your purchases. If you keep mentioning these groups, other people will start to wonder which one they fit into and then the whole stupid thing is perpetuated.

so they will buy the magazine

and don't you think him assuming that only gay men will buy the magazine is quite prejudice?

^ Unfortunately I wasn't on set to watch the shoot :blush:and discuss what Testino's ideas were - so I'm not going to guess. B)

Actually I don't like the cover - I find it kind of bland. The last one was very beautiful and perfect to me

who said he assumed only gay people would buy it?
anyway...i'm not a fan of testino's work but i like the cover a lot. and i think that if the magazine isn't so worried about these insecure people and is still doing covers like this one and josh beech's it's because they're not having circulation problems...?
