Vogue Italia July 2013 : 25 Years of Fashion by Steven Meisel

Meah. Looks dated, like a poor version of something good.

Yup. That sums up I feel perfectly.

I hope we don't find ourselves celebrating 50 Years of Meisel at Vogue Italia. :ninja:

Love Amanda's cover and it's nice to see Meghan again,
but did they shoot this after the Prada Ad?! Amanda is wearing the same thing.!? haha

What a lackluster tribute, were they on downers? Where's the exuberance, the opulence of the anniversary? Least interesting one is Amanda's, which basically is a Prada outtake, straight from the edit floor. Way to be ironic guys, meh, Ill pass.

I don't like any of these covers. Despite the brouhaha he's trying to create I'm irrevocably underwhelmed.

I'd rather have one gorgeous cover than 5 lackluster pullout ones.

loveeeeee see Richard Avedon photos

Vogue Italia has given us some outstanding covers over the years, but I wouldn't count these amongst them, it's like seeing the magazine produce a "greatest hits" package that's empty of the relevance of the original moments.

I'll not say no to an issue that's full of reprints of classic shots, but I can't get too excited over any of these cover shots, because I've seen too much from this magazine that's been so much better than this.

All are quite lackluster considering this is an anniversary issue, it should have been a diverse iconic multi-girl extravaganza! I think as separate issues these might have had more impact.
I wish I loved/liked Raquel's but don't, soo bored of Stella but find her and Giselle's images growing on me, and congrats to Amanda.

And Tony Ward!:heart:swoon:heart:

What bugs me is that Amanda Murphy literally wears the same Prada outfit from the runway, to the AD Campaign, to the Vogue US editorial and now here for the VI cover.

This is REALLY Bad.

isn't there another cover left to debut?....maybe he will recreate a shoot/cover featuring Naomi or Liya or Joan .

PLEASE!!

Hopefully the main editorial will be a huge one with epic cast other than the girls who are on the covers. Crossing my fingers to see some of Meisel's muses back then.

Maybe I'm lost on the references, but what about any of these (lackluster) covers capture the past 25 years of fashion or Franca's reign? All I see are stale concepts with replicas of runway looks. Though last year's collections issue is a tough one to follow, this one didn't even come close.

Wish Tony Ward had been in Stella's shots! Love Linda's covers, too!!

LOVE THE COVERS!!!
The black & white covers are my favorite!!
I think I might get this issue!

Vogue Italia in all its glory! I love multiple covers ;)

Gisele and Stella's covers are the only ones that are doing it for me.

Also, I hate to make this about race but 25 years and not one model not of caucasian ethnicity? What is "Revolutionary" about this?

It really is a shame.

You've hit the nail on the head. Pretty much sums up VI over the last few years.

What bugs me is that Amanda Murphy literally wears the same Prada outfit from the runway, to the AD Campaign, to the Vogue US editorial and now here for the VI cover. Given there are so many outstanding looks from this marvelous collection, the styling on her has been beyond lazy. I am desperate to see her in a second look please.

Natalia's cover is what I want to get.

It seems I'm not the only one to notice this. Maybe she's the only person in the world that can fit into it.

Meisel bores me anyway... no photographer should have so much power at the magazine... it is hard to notice nowadays what is Franca doing there... it seems that the direction of the magazine is always decided by Steven... the cover choices are also a testament to what I'm saying... it almost feels like 25 years of VI as seen by Steven... if there were 6 covers there should have been 6 different photographers (for a change) who have contributed to the magazine greatly and who would have visualised how they saw VI during these 25 years... Roversi, Lindberg, etc. !
