Vogue Italia July 2013 : 25 Years of Fashion by Steven Meisel

^ I love Steven Meisel a looot but I have to agree that this idea of having 6 photographers would have been nice and something to celebrate about:
- six different visions
- six different models
- six different settings
But having said all of this, if Steven Meisel stayed at the top for so long it's because he's ****in' good lol he knows his craft and always brings it in terms of beauty, new ideas, new models and his retouching/angles and photography is beyond powerful.

Meisel bores me anyway... no photographer should have so much power at the magazine... it is hard to notice nowadays what is Franca doing there... it seems that the direction of the magazine is always decided by Steven... the cover choices are also a testament to what I'm saying... it almost feels like 25 years of VI as seen by Steven... if there were 6 covers there should have been 6 different photographers (for a change) who have contributed to the magazine greatly and who would have visualised how they saw VI during these 25 years... Roversi, Lindberg, etc. !

Tottality agree, Vogue Italia need a BIG change, love the work of Meisel but the last years repet to uch old school photographers and himself, is too much this cover no look like Meisel is too much Avedon & Scavullo Style

I am completely undewhelmed. For an anniversary edition I was expecting something epic, but so far the only covers I like are the one with Stella and Linda. The others look very cheap and uninspired, especially Natalia's and Raquel's shot. It's too bad because the casting is exceptional.

^Ditto, I'm intrigued by what I'm seeing. I want Natalia's cover, Raquel is also looking good but it's the guy that puts me off. Nice body but his face/hair are camp looking. Now looking forward to seeing what this issue has to offer.

What's with Stella's cover? As if it needed to be more gruesome than it already would've been. And Raquel and Dorian... such a mess.

Give Amanda Murphy or Meghan a solo cover and be done with it.

I dont get the current obsession with Stella either... Most of the time she looks super boring anf lifeless... I like her a lot but her recent work bores me to death...

This falls incredibly flat for such a special issue. Natalia's cover is the worst; I can't believe how cheap it is! The rest are really ugly too. What a waste.

^ Honestly that is ridiculous, i dont get it, but i love these covers, and that video is fantastic, once again. (especially loved the Linda and guys bit)

I love it when Meghan and Steven work together, I think he's one of the few who captures her so well, really looking forward to her shots.

It's a shame, for me, that the final result was just so lifeless and boring because in motion everyone looked fantastic.

My favourite is still Linda's, after seeing the video. I love that particular moment in the video (almost jumped outta' my chair when the snake came on). Linda looks fabulous as usual and radiates before Meisel's lens. I really do hope Linda's cover makes it across on import, I'll have to ask the local store to keep an eye out. Those two guys compliment each other too, like a younger and older version of each other, I think.

I still look forward to seeing how the 'everything you expect to be on the inside is outside' element turns out. I wonder if each set-up will have more photos to it, also.
