Vogue Italia July 2023 : Kim Kardashian by Rafael Pavarotti

Italian classic at first, but lost the magic once I looked more closely.

They are definitely going for cheap Italian tramp vibe. Interesting but purposefully tacky. ?????

Wish she made a modelling career instead a reality show star. Kim knows very well how to work the camera. Desperate for sales or not, at least looks super glamorous and fine. The cover is nice

Missing arm on the cover bothers me.

The editorial is not bad.

She looks good even if this new fashion persona doesn’t work for me.
I feel like she tries the find a new energy to remain relevant in fashion without Kanye.

The Kardashian aesthetic is drying down and I don’t feel like people will relate to this.

But back to VI…
Let’s be honest, getting a cover of VI today much like VF doesn’t mean anything.

The title is what it is but a title that doesn’t represent anything doesn’t have any sort of impact.

With no heavy weight EIC, no legendary fashion photographer, stylist, make-up artist or hairdresser behind some of those covers, they don’t mean anything.

I talk often about standards but it’s really what it is. Everybody involved in this is either up-and-coming or trendy. Nobody is solidified or has a body of work that means that they are validating anything. They are all chasing validation…So it’s firecrackers instead of fireworks.

This is up on my library's Libby service... 148 pages.

I like the vintage vibe of the cover, but I'm not interested in the cover story itself, and I've spent twice as long looking at some old images of Helmut Berger printed on page 21.

The edit (seen above) with Cara Taylor is at the front of the issue, as well as a reprint of the jewellery edit with Camille Chifflot and Malika.

There seems to be an Italian theme running through the issue, which fades out the closer you get to the main fashion editorials. There's the Kim cover story/interview, then a reprint of the US Vogue story with Jeremy Allen White and Rebecca Longendyke, a reprint of the Quannah Chasinghorse 'white shirt' editorial, a reprint of the UK Vogue Sacha Quenby swimwear story, and that's that.

Kim could be a plus size supermodel. I really like her look.

^plus size?! what? big boobs and butt make you plus size? :grinningwsweat::grinningwsweat:

I like the campy vibe of Sole Amore if only she was another model, I don´t buy it from Cara.

Sole Amore under Ellen Von Unwerth could be at least nothing new but fun....the ed is halfway there....

Wish she made a modelling career instead a reality show star.

Then she'd have no career at all. If that's what you meant. Modeling? On her own merits? LOL. Might as well wish she made a career of being an astrophysicist.

Reading the title, I had to think of that fantastic Vogue Italia July cover from 2003. It's been 20 years and still one of my favorites and again this month it looks like there won't be any competition from new VI covers.

But not to dwell on the past, I think this is a decent offering from both Vogue Italia in this day and age as well as Kim Kardashian. Sadly, both editorials are a bit one-sided and without any storytelling I would say. Especially Sole, Amore had potential but doesn't live up to the title for me. Why is the composition basically the same in every picture, makes it look so flat and one-dimensional when seen as thumbnails.

She really has a supermodel talent. Reality show personalities are more famous about their personal drama and scandal. Being a fashion model used to mean something and it's a good job as being astrophysicist or a window cleaner. I don't regret this comment at all, lol. I don't give a f*ck about it.
